Twist Magic
Twist Magic (20 April 2002 – 15 December 2010) was a French-bred, British-trained National Hunt horse trained by Paul Nicholls (horse racing), Paul Nicholls. He specialised as a two-mile chaser, and recorded many top class wins such as the Tingle Creek Chase, Tingle Creek in 2007 and 2009 and the Victor Chandler Chase in 2010. He suffered a fatal injury while racing in the rearranged Peterborough Chase at Newbury Racecourse, Newbury and had to be put down. He was a rather quirky character, although not at his best at Cheltenham Racecourse, Cheltenham, he was one of the best two-mile chasers of his generation. Background Twist Magic was bred by Dr. Georg Hastrich and Co. and initially trained by Guillaume Macaire. Winged Love
Winged Love (foaled 15 April 1992, died 2015) is an Irish-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire best known for his win in the 1995 Irish Derby. After winning one of his two races as a juvenile in 1994, the colt showed steady improvement in the early part of his three-year-old season, finishing second in his first two races before winning the Listed Prix de Suresnes. He finished a close third behind Celtic Swing in the Prix du Jockey Club before reversing the form to win the Irish Derby. He went on to finish fourth in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and third in the Prix Niel and was retired from racing at the end of the year. He has subsequently become a successful sire of National Hunt horses. Background Winged Love is a bay horse with a narrow white blaze and four white feet bred in Ireland by the bloodstock agent Eric Puerari. Christian Williams (born July 9, 1943) is an American journalist, television writer, and yachtsman. A former editor of ''The Washington Post'' during the Watergate era, he later created two television dramas and is the author of four books including the Ted Turner biography ''Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way''. Journalism Williams joined ''The Washington Post'' in 1972 as an assistant editor of the Style Section. When the cast and crew of the Robert Redford movie ''All The President's Men'' descended on the newsroom to conduct research for the film, Williams served as the assignment editor on the article about the experience behind the scenes. Wincanton Racecourse
Wincanton Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Wincanton, Somerset, England. The steeplechase fences are large, making it a good test of a chaser. Three fences in quick succession in the second half of the home-straight make for exciting racing and often change the complexion of a finish dramatically; resulting in a great many close finishes. The track stages several big races, including the Kingwell Hurdle in February. The CGA Chase (previously the Jim Ford Challenge Cup, last run in 2012) was run on the same day; these races were significant trials for the Champion Hurdle and Cheltenham Gold Cup respectively.
