Twin Beds (1929 Film)
''Twin Beds'' is a 1929 American comedy film directed by Alfred Santell and written by F. McGrew Willis. It is based on the 1914 play '' Twin Beds'' by Edward Salisbury Field and Margaret Mayo. The film stars Jack Mulhall, Patsy Ruth Miller, Edythe Chapman, Knute Erickson, Jocelyn Lee and Nita Martan. The film was released by Warner Bros. on July 14, 1929. Plot Elsie Dolan (Patsy Ruth Miller), accidentally finding herself in the office of songwriter Danny Brown (Jack Mulhall), achieves Broadway success with Danny's help. Marrying Danny out of gratitude, she is temporarily enchanted by her egotistical leading man Monty Solari (Armand Kaliz), leading to an evening of misunderstandings, door-slammings and hasty retreats under the bed when the very-married Solari wanders drunkenly into Danny and Elsie's apartment. Alfred Santell
Alfred Allen Santell (1895–1981), was an American film director and film producer. Santell directed over 60 films, beginning in 1917, most of which were two-reel comedy short subjects for Hal Roach and other productions companies. Taking up feature films from about 1924, Santell worked for several major studios. In 1934, he was married to actress Jane N. Keithley; they remained married until her death. He left the business in 1947 after a contract dispute with Republic Studios. Santell died on June 19, 1981, in Salinas, California. Armand Kaliz
Armand Kali(s)z (October 23, 1882 or 1883 – February 1, 1941) was an American stage and film actor of the silent film and early sound period of the 1930s. Prior to that, he was an actor in vaudeville and on the legitimate stage. Career Born in Warsaw, Poland, Kaliz was a headliner in vaudeville. He arrived in the United States in September 1907, having sailed from Southampton to New York on the S/S ''St. Louis''. His Broadway debut came in ''The Hoyden'' (1907). His other plays on Broadway included ''The Kiss Burglar'' (1918) and ''Spice of 1922'' (1922). He appeared in films such as ''The Temptress'' (1926) with actresses such as Greta Garbo, making some 82 film appearances between 1917 and 1941. Eddie Gribbon (January 3, 1890 – September 29, 1965) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 180 films from the 1910s to the 1950s. Gribbon began working in Mack Sennett films in 1916 and continued through the 1920s. He usually had significant roles in two-reel films, but his roles in feature films were lesser ones. Gribbon was the brother of actor Harry Gribbon. Alice Lake
Alice Lake (September 12, 1895 – November 15, 1967) was an American film actress. She began her career during the silent film era and often appeared in comedy shorts opposite Roscoe Arbuckle. Career Born in Brooklyn, New York, Lake began her career as a dancer. She made her screen debut in 1912, and she appeared in a number of comedy shorts by Mack Sennett. Lake was often the leading lady of Roscoe Arbuckle in comedies like '' Oh Doctor!'' (1917) and '' The Cook'' (1918). Arbuckle directed both films and was joined by Buster Keaton who had a leading role in ''Oh Doctor!''. Lake also played dramatic roles with Bert Lytell in ''Blackie's Redemption'' and ''The Lion's Den'', both from 1919. During the 1920s she appeared in a number of Metro silent film features as the lead actress. At the height of her career she earned $1,200 per week as a motion picture actress.
