Tweety
Tweety is a yellow canary in the Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' series of animated cartoons. The name "Tweety" is a play on words, as it originally meant "sweetie", along with "tweet" being an English onomatopoeia for the sounds of birds. His characteristics are based on Red Skelton's famous "Junior the Mean Widdle Kid." He appeared in 46 cartoons during the golden age, made between 1942 and 1964. Personality and identity Despite the perceptions that people may hold, owing to the long eyelashes and high-pitched voice (which Mel Blanc provided), Tweety is male although his ambiguity was played with. Demond "Tweety" Carter (born October 25, 1986) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Start Lublin of the Polish Basketball League. He played college basketball for Baylor University. High school career Tweety Carter had one of the greatest high school careers in the history of the sport while attending Reserve Christian School in Reserve, Louisiana. In six years playing varsity Carter scored 7,457 points, making him the highest scoring high school player in U.S. history, leading the Eagles to five state championships. Carter was named McDonald's All-American, ''Parade'' All-American (third team), Jordan All-American, EA Sports All-American and MaxPreps All-American following senior season in 2006. Fabián Andrés González Amado (born 1963 in Buenos Aires, Argentina), known by his stage name Tweety González, is an Argentine musician and record producer. González is mostly known for playing the keyboard for Argentine rock band Soda Stereo and Argentine musician Fito Páez. Tweety is also a music producer and has worked with artists Shakira, Gustavo Cerati, Illya Kuryaki and the Valderramas, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Superlitio, Famasloop and several others. Tweety Walters
Dame "Tweety" Walters (born 27 December 1976) is a Jamaican soccer player, currently without a club. Career Professional Walters attended Clarendon College in his native Jamaica, before moving to England when he signed a contract with English lower-league club Leyton Orient. Walters never settled in England, and never played a first team game with Orient, returning home to Jamaica to play for Tivoli Gardens in the Jamaica National Premier League in 2002. He won the JNPL title with Tivoli in 2003/2004. Walters moved to the United States in 2006, and played 16 games with the Atlanta Silverbacks U23's as an over-age player in the USL Premier Development League, before moving onto the senior Atlanta Silverbacks team the following year. He was released by the Silverbacks at the end of the season, and subsequently signed with the Wilmington Hammerheads in the USL Second Division in 2008, where he was named to the USL2 All-League Second Team. ''Tweetie Pie'' is a 1947 Warner Bros. '' Merrie Melodies'' cartoon directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on May 3, 1947, and stars Tweety with Sylvester the Cat, who is called "Thomas" in this cartoon. ''Tweetie Pie'' marks the first pairing of the characters Sylvester and Tweety, and it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1947, breaking ''Tom and Jerry''s streak of four consecutive wins in the category and winning Warner Bros. their first Academy Award. Plot Thomas the Cat (later renamed Sylvester) captures Tweety, whom he finds outside in the snow, getting warm by a cigar. Tweetie was a client for the social networking website Twitter. There is a mobile version that runs on iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, and a desktop version runs on Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion (respectively 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7). Both the iOS and Mac versions of Tweetie were acquired by Twitter on April 9, 2010 and were re-released as the official Twitter clients for iOS and Mac. History Tweetie 2.0 for iPhone was the first app to introduce the Pull-to-refresh user interface mechanism. The Mac OS X version of Twitter had many of the same features as its mobile sibling. In addition to a free advertising supported version, the paid iOS and OS X versions cost $2.99 and $19.95 respectively.
