Tuzla Thermal Power Plant
Tuzla Thermal Power Plant is a coal-fired thermal power plant in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the largest power plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is operated by Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (EBiH). History Construction of the first two units started in 1959. The first 32 MW unit was commissioned in 1963 and the last 215 MW unit was commissioned in 1978. There is a plan to build a new 450 MW unit by the Gezhouba Group. Description The power station has an installed electric capacity of 715 MW (without two 32 MW units) and it produces around 3.1 TWh of electricity per year. In addition, it supplies heat for Tuzla and Lukavac. The plant burns 3,300,000 tons of coal annually. Units 1–6 are supplied from the Kreka and Banovići mines. Unit 7, at the moment, is not built. Tuzla
Tuzla (, ) is the third-largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the administrative center of Tuzla Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As of 2013, it has a population of 110,979 inhabitants. Tuzla is the economic, cultural, educational, health and tourist centre of northeast Bosnia. A flue-gas stack, also known as a smoke stack, chimney stack or simply as a stack, is a type of chimney, a vertical pipe, channel or similar structure through which combustion product gases called flue gases are exhausted to the outside air. Flue gases are produced when coal, oil, natural gas, wood or any other fuel is combusted in an industrial furnace, a power plant's steam-generating boiler, or other large combustion device. Air Quality Index
An air quality index (AQI) is used by government agencies to communicate to the public how polluted the air currently is or how polluted it is forecast to become. AQI information is obtained by averaging readings from an air quality sensor, which can increase due to vehicle traffic, forest fires, or anything that can increase air pollution. Pollutants tested include ozone, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, among others. Public health risks increase as the AQI rises, especially affecting children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory or cardiovascular issues. During these times, governmental bodies generally encourage people to reduce physical activity outdoors, or even avoid going out altogether. Modrac Lake
Modrac Lake (Bosnian language, Bosnian: Jezero Modrac) is an artificial lake in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Located in the municipality of Lukavac, it is home to many species of fish and is popular with fishermen. A 2005 effort to turn it into a tourist attraction was unsuccessful because of local government neglect and inhabitants' practice of dumping garbage on the shore. The resulting disease and bacteria made it undesirable for swimming. As a result, tourists lost interest in the lake. A cable car for goods transport crosses Modrac Lake. The Spreča ( sr-cyrl, Спреча) is a river of northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, a tributary of the Bosna.
