Tuzdysor ( kk, Тұздысор; russian: Туздысор) is a salt lake in the Ekibastuz City Administration, Pavlodar Region, Kazakhstan. Tuzdysor is one of the main lakes in the area surrounding Ekibastuz and is part of the Irtysh Water Management Basin. It is located to the NNE of the city. There is commercial salt extraction at the lake, part of a project that has been implemented recently. Geography Tuzdysor is an endorheic lake in the Irtysh Basin. It stretches from west to east for and is about wide. The northern end of larger lake Karasor lies to the southeast and lake Shandaksor, with the Ekibastuz GRES-2 Power Station by its eastern shore, is located to the southwest. Shandaksor ( kk, Шаңдақсор; russian: Шандаксор) is a salt lake in the Ekibastuz City Administration, Pavlodar Region, Kazakhstan. Ekibastuz GRES-2 Power Station
Ekibastuz ( kk, Екібастұз, translit=Ekıbastūz, , ەكئباستۇز; russian: Экибастуз) is a city in Pavlodar Region, northeastern Kazakhstan. The population was Ekibastuz is served by Ekibastuz Airport. History The history of Ekibastuz begins in the 19th century, when Kosym Pshembayev, a native Kazakh who was commissioned by Russian merchants to look for mineral resources in that region, alighted on a coal field southeast of Pavlodar. Endorheic Lake
An endorheic lake (also called a sink lake or terminal lake) is a collection of water within an endorheic basin, or sink, with no evident outlet. Endorheic lakes are generally saline as a result of being unable to get rid of solutes left in the lake by evaporation. These lakes can be used as indicators of anthropogenic change, such as irrigation or climate change, in the areas surrounding them. Lakes with subsurface drainage are considered cryptorheic. Components of endorheic lakes The two main ways that endorheic lakes accumulate water are through river flow into the lake (discharge) and precipitation falling into the lake. The collected water of the lake, instead of discharging, can only be lost due to either evapotranspiration or percolation (water sinking underground, e.g., to become groundwater in an aquifer).
