Tutter Givskov
Tutter Ellen Margrethe Givskov (30 April 1930 – 15 February 2023) was a Danish violinist and music professor. After serving as leader of the Tivoli Symphony Orchestra from 1951, in 1954 she joined the Royal Danish Orchestra. Together with other musicians from the orchestra, in 1957 she created the Copenhagen String Quartet (''Københavns Strygekvartet'') until it ceased playing in 1994. In 1969, she left the orchestra to turn to teaching. In the early 1970s, she joined '' Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium'' where she became Denmark's first female professor of music in 1988. Royal Danish Orchestra
The Royal Danish Orchestra (''Det Kongelige Kapel'') is a Danish orchestra based in Copenhagen. The Danish name for the orchestra indicates its original function as an ensemble geared to supplying the music for court events. The Royal Danish Orchestra presently consists of around 100 musicians. The principal venue for the orchestra's traditional symphony concerts is the Copenhagen Opera House, where the orchestra also serves as the orchestra for the Royal Danish Opera, as well as holding several annual chamber orchestra concerts in the foyer of the smaller experimental stage Takkelloftet. Knight Of The Dannebrog
The Order of the Dannebrog ( da, Dannebrogordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Until 1808, membership in the order was limited to fifty members of noble or royal rank, who formed a single class known as ''White Knights'' to distinguish them from the ''Blue Knights'' who were members of the Order of the Elephant. In 1808, the Order was reformed and divided into four classes. The ''Grand Commander'' class is reserved to persons of princely origin. It is awarded only to royalty with close family ties with the Danish Royal House. The statute of the Order was amended in 1951 by a Royal Ordinance so that both men and women could be members of the Order. Tagea Brandt Rejselegat
The Tagea Brandts ''Rejselegat'' (Travel Scholarship) is a Danish award to women who have made a significant contribution in science, literature or art. The grant, which is given without application, was created and endowed by Danish industrialist Vilhelm Brandt (1854–1921) in 1905 in honor of his wife, Tagea Brandt. It is awarded annually on 17 March, her birthday. The charter of 1922 provides that it shall be given to outstanding women in science, art, music, literature and theater arts (particularly in this case to actresses at the Royal Danish Theatre). The intent is for the awardee to both broaden her horizons while promoting Danish society abroad, and to benefit from vacation and rest time. The first scholarships were given in 1924; the first time the amount was DKK 10.000, in 1958 it was increased to DKK 15.000, in 1967 to 25.000, later to 50,000, and currently it is DKK 75.000, which usually is given to 2-3 women annually. Asger Lund Christiansen
Asger Lund Christiansen (1927–1998) was a Danish cellist and composer. He trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, graduating in 1946. Alongside Bløndal Erling Bengtsson, he was his generation's most recognized Danish cellist. In 1957–1995 he played with musicians such as Tutter Givskov, Mogens Ludolph and Mogens Bruun in the Copenhagen String Quartet and also as a soloist, teacher and organizer, he has had a major influence. From 1965–1987, he was a teacher and later professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Asger Lund Christiansen wrote a significant number of compositions. He has written chamber music, instrumental music and orchestral works in a mostly neo-classical style.
