Tuscany (album)
''Tuscany'' is the 12th album by the English progressive rock band Renaissance, released in 2001. After a lengthy hiatus, original members Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford, Terence Sullivan and John Tout came together to record a new album, assisted by Roy Wood; Tout was unavailable for the later sessions and was replaced by Mickey Simmonds. Although the album led to one London date on 9 March 2001 followed by a short tour of Japan, with Haslam, Dunford, Sullivan and Simmonds augmented by Rave Tesar (keyboards) and David J. Keyes (bass, vocals), Annie Haslam subsequently announced that the band was again disbanding. Renaissance are an English progressive rock band, best known for their 1978 UK top 10 hit " Northern Lights" and progressive rock classics like "Carpet of the Sun", "Mother Russia", and "Ashes Are Burning". They developed a unique sound, combining a female Lead vocalist, lead vocal with a fusion of classical music, classical, folk music, folk, rock music, rock, and jazz influences. Characteristic elements of the Renaissance sound are Annie Haslam's wide vocal range, prominent piano accompaniment, orchestration, orchestral arrangements, vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, synthesiser, and versatile drum work. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Mickey Simmonds
Mickey Simmonds (born 31 January 1959, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England) is an English session keyboardist, arranger and composer. He is best known for his work with progressive rock acts, Mike Oldfield, Renaissance, Camel and Fish. He has also worked with Joan Armatrading, Paul Young, The Rutles, Art Garfunkel, Kiki Dee, Mastermind, John Coghlan's Diesel Band, Elkie Brooks, Judie Tzuke, Imagination, Bucks Fizz, Jennifer Rush, The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, the list goes on. Simmonds had a long-standing relationship with Neil Innes, hence The Rutles (including all the arrangements on Archaeology 1996) and The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, whose studio album ''Pour l'Amour des Chiens'' was co-produced by Simmonds & Innes. Monks Horton
Monks Horton is a small civil parish in the Folkestone and Hythe district of Kent, England. It is located north of Hythe. Within the civil parish are the hamlets of Horton and Broad Street. The parish is governed by a parish meeting, rather than a parish council, because of its small size. The name comes from there having been a medieval priory built here. ''Time-Line'' the eleventh studio album by the English progressive rock band Renaissance (band), Renaissance, released in April 1983. It was the last album released by Renaissance before they disbanded in 1987. With this album, Renaissance departed from their signature sound and toward 1980s pop, a change which had begun on their previous album, ''Camera Camera (Renaissance album), Camera Camera''. It was a commercial failure and received the worst reviews of the band's career. It was followed by a band hiatus of nearly 20 years. Roy Wood
Roy Wood (born 8 November 1946) is an English musician and singer-songwriter. He was particularly successful in the 1960s and 1970s as member and co-founder of the Move, Electric Light Orchestra and Wizzard. As a songwriter, he contributed a number of hits to the repertoire of these bands. Altogether he had more than 20 singles in the UK Singles Chart under various guises, including three UK No. 1 hits. The BBC has described Wood as being "responsible for some of the most memorable sounds of the Seventies" and "credited as playing a major role in the glam rock, psychedelic and prog rock movements". In 2008, Wood was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution to rock and pop by the University of Derby.
