Turning Point (Dr SID Album)
''Turning Point'' is the first studio album by Nigerian artiste Dr SID, released April 11, 2010, on Mo' Hits Records. Production for the album took place during 2009 at Mo' Hits recording studios and was handled by Don Jazzy Background In April 2009, following the release of Wande Coal's debut album Mushin to Mo'Hits, Don Jazzy began work on Dr SID's album. Don Jazzy decided to create a new sound for Dr SID who was known as predominantly a Rap artiste and decided to have more singing on the album, as well as giving the album Pop feel. The inspiration behind the album was to create music that described "love" and "dance", two emotion that bring joy to most people, as well as introduce listeners to the new sound of Dr SID. The intent to introduce this new sound led to the Title of the album "Turning Point", which basically describes the transition of Dr SID's music and life as a whole. Sidney Onoriode Esiri (born 1 May 1980), commonly known as Dr SID, is a Nigerian singer. Early life Dr SID is from Delta State, he was born and raised in Lagos. His mother is a fashion designer and his father, Justus Esiri, is an actor. Punch article. The Headies (originally called the Hip Hop World Awards) is a music awards show established in 2006 by the ''Hip Hop World Magazine'' of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The Headies 2011 was the 6th edition of the Hip Hop World Awards. The award's name was officially changed to "The Headies". The ceremony was hosted by Rita Dominic and eLDee. It was held on October 22, 2011, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. 2face Idibia won three awards, including Artiste of the Year. Darey's "The Way You Are" won for Best R&B Single and Recording of the Year. M.I and Ice Prince won two awards apiece. Don Jazzy and Dr SID both took home an award. Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe (born 18 October 1985), popularly known as Wande Coal, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Early life Wande Coal was born on 18 October 1985 in Lagos Island, Lagos state, Nigeria, to Chief Ibukun Olufunto and Omolara Oluwayemisi Ojosipe. The first of two children, Education Wande Coal began his primary school education at Staff Nursery and Primary School Ijanikin Lagos State , and later proceeded to Federal Government College ijanikin Lagos in Lagos State for his secondary school education.
