Stan Rogers
Stanley Allison Rogers (November 29, 1949 – June 2, 1983) was a Canadian folk musician and songwriter. Rogers was noted for his rich, baritone voice and his traditional-sounding songs which were frequently inspired by Canadian history and the daily lives of working people, especially those from the fishing villages of the Maritime provinces and, later, the farms of the Canadian prairies and Great Lakes. Rogers died in a fire aboard Air Canada Flight 797 on the ground at the Greater Cincinnati Airport at the age of 33. Early life and musical development Rogers was born in Hamilton, Ontario, the eldest son of Nathan Allison Rogers and Valerie (née Bushell) Rogers, two Maritimers who had relocated to Ontario in search of work shortly after their marriage in July 1948. Fogarty's Cove Music
Fogarty's Cove Music is a Canadian independent record label founded by Stan Rogers in 1978, surrounding the production of Rogers' second album, '' Turnaround''. Fogarty's Cove Music is based in Dundas, Ontario, Canada. History Stan Rogers' first album was not recorded under the Fogarty's Cove label, but under Barn Swallow Records. Barn Swallow Records was a studio purchased by Mitch Podolak. Podolak offered to record an album for Rogers after hearing him perform at Winnipeg Folk Festival in the Summer of 1975. Stan began recording '' Turnaround'' under Barn Swallow Records in 1977, but Podolak was unable to continue producing the record due to financial issues. With help from his parents, Rogers purchased Barn Swallow records from Podolak. The studio was renamed to Fogarty's Cove Music and a new logo was designed by Garnet Rogers. Archie Fisher
Archie Macdonald Fisher (born 23 October 1939) is a Scottish folk singer and songwriter. He has released several solo albums since his first, eponymous album, in 1968. Fisher composed the song "The Final Trawl", recorded on the album ''Windward Away'', that several other groups and singers, including The Clancy Brothers, have also recorded. Starting in the mid-1970s, he produced four folk albums with Makem and Clancy. He also performed with them and other groups as a backup singer and guitarist. He hosted his own radio show on BBC Radio Scotland for almost three decades. Early life Archie Fisher was born in Glasgow on 23 October 1939 into a large singing family. His sister Cilla Fisher is also a professional singer, as was his late sister Ray. In 1960 he moved to Edinburgh and appeared regularly at "The Howff" folk club run by Roy Guest.
