Turn You Inside-Out
"Turn You Inside-Out" is a song by American rock band R.E.M. from their sixth studio album ''Green''. Like all tracks on the album, it was written by group members Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Bill Berry. The song's main guitar riff is an inversion of that used in "Finest Worksong". The recording also features percussion from former Sugar Hill Records house drummer Keith LeBlanc. Despite only being released as a single promotionally, it did well on the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs and Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, placing top ten positions on both charts. A music video for the track was directed by James Herbert, who had previously directed music videos for eight other R.E.M. tracks. In a 1989 live performance of the song, Stipe proclaimed to the audience, "This song goes out to the Exxon Corporation". Green (R
Green is the color between cyan and yellow on the visible spectrum. It is evoked by light which has a dominant wavelength of roughly 495570 nm. James Herbert (director)
James Herbert (born 1938) is an American painter and filmmaker known for directing a series of music videos for the band R.E.M. He has also made over forty short films, including ''John Five'' (1992) and ''Jumbo Aqua'' (2001), and directed four independent features: ''Scars'' (1997), ''Speedy Boys'' (1998), ''Rabbit Pix'' (2005) and ''Abandoned House'' (2007). Some of his short films have been collected on the video compilation ''Figures'' (1990). Biography Herbert was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He received his BA at Dartmouth College and his MFA at the University of Colorado in 1962. After graduation, Herbert moved to Georgia and joined the faculty of the art department at the University of Georgia. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). An oil spill is the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment, especially the marine ecosystem, due to human activity, and is a form of pollution. Bligh Reef
Bligh Reef, sometimes known as Bligh Island Reef, is a reef off the coast of Bligh Island in Prince William Sound, Alaska. This was the location of the 1989 ''Exxon Valdez'' oil spill. After the incident, 33 US Code § 2733 mandated the operation of an automated navigation light to prevent future collisions with the reef. Despite these efforts the tug ''Pathfinder'' ran aground on Bligh Reef on Dec 24, 2009, rupturing its tanks and spilling diesel fuel. Bligh Reef is also where Alaska Steamship Company's Olympia ran aground in 1910. Bligh Reef serves as a fishing ground for halibut and a harvesting area for shrimp.
