"Turn Out the Night" is a new wave and synthpop song by Amy Holland from the soundtrack for the film '' Scarface''. Song information The song sampled " Flashdance... What a Feeling" and was written by Pete Bellotte while the music was composed by Giorgio Moroder. When the song was released on the soundtrack, it was accidentally misprinted as ''Turn Out The Light'' and the correction to the song's title, but was not corrected, leading up to many people thinking the song is called ''Turn Out The Light'' but the correct title is ''Turn Out The Night'' and it can be proven by the song's lyrics: ''Turn Out The Night, I can be strong as long as there's daylight''. While most of the songs from the Scarface soundtrack were put into ''Grand Theft Auto III'', "Turn Out The Night" was not. Amy Celeste Boersma, known professionally as Amy Holland, is an American pop rock singer, songwriter, and composer. Holland's music career spans more than 30 years. She received a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist in 1981, following her eponymous debut album containing the single " How Do I Survive". Early life Amy Celeste Boersma was born in Palisades, New York, into a musical family. Her mother was country singer Esmereldy and her father was opera singer Harry Boersma. Holland is of Dutch descent and changed her name from Boersma to Holland (after her ancestors' origin country), because she thought it would make a better stage name. As a teenager, Holland moved to Los Angeles, California, in hope of making a career as a singer-songwriter. ''Scarface'' is a 1983 American crime film directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone. Loosely based on the Scarface (novel), 1929 novel of the same name and serving as a loose remake of the Scarface (1932 film), 1932 film, it tells the story of Cuban exiles, Cuban refugee Tony Montana (Al Pacino), who arrives penniless in Miami during the Mariel boatlift and becomes a powerful and extremely homicidal drug lord.
