Turkish Pharmacists Association
The Turkish Pharmacists Association (Türk Eczacıları Birliği) is a professional association established in 1956 in Istanbul. It is a statutory body and a public institution. Its headquarters moved from Istanbul to Ankara in 1984. It serves about 30,000 pharmacists with 54 Pharmacists Rooms in the provinces of Turkey. The Turkish Competition Board investigated the association and fined it TL 18,062,307 in 2017 for abusing its dominant position in the market contrary to Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition, but the decision was annulled in December 2021. Erdoğan Çolak is the chairman of the association. During the Turkish currency and debt crisis, 2018 he reported on the difficulties in securing supplies of medication. It is the main supplier of orphan drugs, on a named patient basis. Turkish Medicines And Medical Devices Agency
The Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TMMDA; tr, Türkiye İlaç ve Tıbbi Cihaz Kurumu) is a regulatory agency of the Government of Turkey that acts as the highest sanitary authority in terms of medical safety on medicines, health products, cosmetics and personal care products. It is responsible for the enforcement of the Turkish Cosmetic regulations, which came into effect in 2005. The current Medical Device Regulation came into force on June 7, 2011. A new draft regulation aligned with the new European regulation was published in 2018. The Social Security Institution ( tr, Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu (SGK)) is the governing authority of the Turkish social security system. It was established by the Social Security Institution Law No:5502, which was published in the Official Gazette No: 26173 on June 20, 2006. This brought five different retirement systems that affected civil servants, contractual paid workers, agricultural paid workers, and self-employed workers into a single retirement system offering equal actuarial rights and obligations.
