Turkish Air Force Academy
The Turkish Air Force Academy (TuAFA) ( tr, Hava Harp Okulu) is a four-year co-educational military academy located in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. It is part of the National Defence University. It is the main human resource for the Turkish Air Force Command. It was founded in 1951, replacing the Army Flight School, with the mandate to train the officers of the Turkish Air Force. The academy provides an engineering education to Air Force cadets from Turkey as well as a number of other countries, and prepares them for careers in their respective Air Forces. TuAFA is recognized by the Turkish Council of Higher Education, as a university accredited to grant engineering degrees. It should not be confused with the Air War College (''Hava Harp Enstitüsü''). National Defense University ( tr, Milli Savunma Üniversitesi) is a military university established in 2016 and primarily located in Beşiktaş, İstanbul. The university education and training started with the ceremony held on 12 February 2017 at the Air Force Academy. It is a continuation of the Turkish War Academies. History In the first half of the 18th year, reforms were made to the Turkish army organization depending on global developments. In 1845 the first military high school and in 1848 War academies were established. 2016 Turkish Coup D'état Attempt
On 15 July 2016, a faction within the Turkish Armed Forces, organized as the Peace at Home Council, attempted a coup d'état against state institutions, including the government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. They attempted to seize control of several places in Ankara, Istanbul, Marmaris and elsewhere, such as the Asian side entrance of the Bosphorus Bridge, but failed to do so after forces loyal to the state defeated them. The Council cited an erosion of secularism, elimination of democratic rule, disregard for human rights, and Turkey's loss of credibility in the international arena as reasons for the coup. The government said the coup leaders were linked to the Gülen movement, which is designated as a terrorist organization by the Republic of Turkey and led by Fethullah Gülen, a Turkish businessman and scholar who lives in Pennsylvania. Yalova
Yalova is a market-gardening town located in northwestern Turkey on the eastern coast of the Sea of Marmara. The town has a population of 156,838, while the population of the surrounding Yalova Province is 291,001 . The Air War College (AWC) is the senior Professional Military Education (PME) school of the U.S. Air Force.
