Turkey At The 2018 Winter Olympics
Turkey competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018. The Turkish team consisted of eight athletes (five men and three women), competing in four sports, including ski jumping for the first time. Competitors The following is the list of number of competitors participating at the Games per sport/discipline. Alpine skiing Turkey qualified two athletes, one male and one female. Cross-country skiing Turkey qualified three athletes, two male and one female. ;Distance ;Sprint Figure skating Turkey qualified one ice dancing pair (one male and one female), based on its placement at the 2017 World Figure Skating Championships in Helsinki, Finland. Alpine Skiing At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Men's Slalom
The men's slalom competition of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics was held on 22 February 2018 at the Yongpyong Alpine Centre at the Alpensia Sports Park in PyeongChang. Qualification Up to a total of 320 alpine skiers qualified across all eleven events. Athletes qualified for this event by having met the A qualification standard, which meant having 140 or less FIS Points and being ranked in the top 500 in the Olympic FIS points list or meeting the B standard, which meant 140 or less FIS points. Countries not meeting the A standard were allowed to enter a maximum of one B standard athlete per gender. The Points list takes into average the best results of athletes per discipline during the qualification period (1 July 2016 to 21 January 2018). 2017 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2017 World Figure Skating Championships were held 29 March – 2 April 2017 in Helsinki, Finland. The host was named in June 2014. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dancing. The event also determined the number of entries for each country at the 2018 World Championships and the 2018 Winter Olympics. Venues Hartwall Arena's main arena, with an ice surface measuring 60 m x 30 m, was used for all competitions and several practice sessions. The rest of the practice sessions took place at Hartwall Arena's practice rink (58 m x 28 m) and Pirkkola ice rink (for pairs, 60 m x 30 m). AyÅŸenur Duman
Ayşenur Duman (born 1 March 1999) is a Turkish female Olympian cross-country skier. Early life Ayşenur Duman was born in Peçenek village of Çamlıdere district of Ankara Province, Turkey. She lives in Gerede, Bolu Province. She is a student of Physical Education at Abant Izzet Baysal University in Bolu. Career Duman began skiing at the age of ten encouraged by her physical education teacher. In Gerede, where she now lives, she found opportunity to exercise in a training camp center for skiing. She performs diverse exercises daily for 1.5 – 3 hours, and does cross-country skiing for a day. She was admitted to the national team in 2014. As of 2018, she has a participation record of 65 international competitions with 19 medals won. She is coached by the Turkish female cross-country skier Kelime Çetinkaya, who competed four times in Winter Olympic Games.
