Turkey competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States. Medalists Results by event Archery In its fourth Olympic archery competition, Turkey's women nearly earned two medals. Elif Altınkaynak made it to the semifinals in the individual competition, and the women's team made it there in the team round. Serap Aktaş
Serap Aktaş (born September 25, 1971 in Ceyhan, Turkey) is a Turkish female middle and long-distance runner, who later specialized in marathon. She holds various Turkish records. In 1994, she finished the Istanbul Marathon first in the women's category, an achievement not reached yet by any other Turkish female athlete. She won the gold medal in women's marathon at the 1997 Mediterranean Games held in Bari, Italy. Serap Aktaş represented Turkey at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States and 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia in marathon finishing 23rd and 37th respectively. Oleg Elekpayevich Saitov (russian: Оле́г Элекпа́евич Саи́тов; (born May 26, 1974 in Novokuybyshevsk, Russian SFSR to a Volga Tatar father and ethnic Russian mother) is a Russian former Olympic boxer. Hocine Soltani (December 1972 – March 2002) was an Algerian boxer, who won two Olympic medals. In 1992, the southpaw placed third in the featherweight division (54–57 kg), and at the 1996 Summer Olympics he won the gold medal in the lightweight division. Early life Hocine Soltani was born in the Algerian town of Thénia on 27 December 1972. He was introduced to boxing by his older brother Omar, who had already trained several other fighters. Omar later explained, "It is a school of life and discipline that allowed him not to drag, he quickly proved diligent and determined." István Kovács (born August 17, 1970), nicknamed Ko-Ko or sometimes The Cobra, is a Hungarian retired world champion boxer. He is a Secretary General of the International Boxing Association (AIBA). As an amateur, he won the bantamweight gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics, and was a world champion at the 1991 World Amateur Boxing Championships in flyweight and at the 1997 World Amateur Boxing Championships in featherweight.
