Turid Kjellmann Pedersen
Turid Kjellmann Pedersen (26 September 1937 – 16 August 2012) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party (Norway), Labour Party. She was born in Talvik, Norway, Talvik as a daughter of two smallholding, smallholders. She finished secondary education, and after various jobs she worked at an antiquity shop in Oslo from 1958 to 1970. After an intermezzo as a housewife and smallholder from 1970 to 1985, she worked in tourism until retiring in 1998. She was a member of Finnmark County Municipality, Finnmark county council (Norway), county council from 1975 to 1987, serving as deputy county mayor from 1986 to 1987. From 2003 to 2007 she was a deputy member of Alta, Norway, Alta municipal council (Norway), municipal council from 2003 to 2007. She was a national board member of the Labour Party from 1973 to 1978 and 1982 to 1987. The Labour Party ( nb, Arbeiderpartiet; nn, Arbeidarpartiet; A/Ap; se, Bargiidbellodat), formerly The Norwegian Labour Party ( no, Det norske Arbeiderparti, DNA), is a social-democratic political party in Norway. It is positioned on the centre-left of the political spectrum, and is led by Jonas Gahr Støre. It was the senior partner of the governing red–green coalition from 2005 to 2013, and its former leader Jens Stoltenberg served as the prime minister of Norway. The Labour Party is officially committed to social-democratic ideals. Its slogan since the 1930s has been "everyone shall take part" and the party traditionally seeks a strong welfare state, funded through taxes and duties.
