Turid Rugaas
Turid Rugaas is a Norwegian dog trainer. Rugaas got her first dog in 1948 and has been training since 1969. She set up her dog school Hagan Hundeskole in 1984 on her farm on overlooking the fjords of Norway. She started educating other dog trainers and giving seminars 1992. Since then conducted workshops in 12 different countries with students from 24 countries. She is now retired from actual dog training, but continues to conduct seminars and workshops internationally. She has published several books and DVDs including the popular best seller ''On Talking Terms with Dogs''. She has identified some 30 calming signals to explain the communication of dogs. Rugaas is the author of several books and DVDs that have been seminal in the subject of dog communication that have since helped many dog trainers, behaviourists and ethologists understand dog language. Turid Birkeland
Turid Birkeland (5 November 1962 – 24 December 2015) was a Norwegian cultural executive and former politician for the Labour Party. She was Minister of Culture in 1996–97. She was an author and also worked in television, including being chief of cultural programming at NRK and a member of the board at Telenor. She also headed the Risør Chamber Music Festival, and was the director of Concerts Norway. Early life and education Birkeland was born in Haugesund as a daughter of trade unionist Einar Sigurd Birkeland and consultant Tora Birkeland. Her father was secretary in the Norwegian Union of Iron and Metalworkers in the 1970s, and later became international secretary in the United Federation of Trade Unions and rector of Sørmarka Folk High School. Turid Knaak
Turid Knaak (born 24 January 1991) is a German former footballer. She played as an attacking midfielder or a striker for Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg and the Germany women's national team. Club career Knaak started her professional career at FCR Duisburg with whom she won the German Cup and the UEFA Women's Cup. For the 2011–12 season she transferred to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. On 4 July 2014, she joined Arsenal on a two-month loan, coming off the bench to make her debut in the FA WSL Cup two days later, in a 3–0 win over Chelsea, and four days later, she was named in the starting line up against the London Bees, scoring twice in a 7–0 cup win. Turid Balke
Turid Balke (25 July 1921 – 5 January 2000) was a Norwegian actress, playwright and artist. Biography Born in Kirkenes, she started her professional career at Trøndelag Teater in 1949. She would spend many of her years as an actress at Folketeatret and the famous Norwegian revue-stage Chat Noir. She was also an artist and a designer, even designing "proper" toys for children, but more importantly she would become one of the pioneers in Norwegian children's theatre. She wrote and staged several plays for children and is also remembered for creating ''Balkeby'' (Balke-town), a miniature-town with puppets and their stories performed by Balke. Her first film appearance came as a secretary in the 1953-comedy ''Brudebuketten''. Turid Thomassen (born 19 April 1965) is a Norwegian politician who was party leader of the Norwegian Red party from 2010 to 2012, succeeding Torstein Dahle. Born in Stathelle, Telemark, Thomassen works in the administration offices of the Department for Television Education and Film Science at the Lillehammer University College, where she is also the highest union representative for the Norwegian Civil Service Union. Turid Hundstad (born 1945) is a Norwegian civil servant. Having graduated with the siv.øk. degree from Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration, she embarked on a career as a civil servant. She first worked in the Ministry of Finance, then as a sub-director and deputy under-secretary of state in the Ministry of Culture. For some time she was also deputy director in the International Maritime Organization. She was appointed director of the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund in 1994, leaving in 2004.
