Tupac Mantilla
Tupac Mantilla (born October 21, 1978) is a percussionist from Bogotá, Colombia. He is the founder and director of the Global Percussion Network PERCUACTION and the director of the percussion group Tekeyé. He has worked with Bobby McFerrin, Esperanza Spalding, Zakir Hussain, Bill Cosby, Danilo Perez, Julian Lage, Bob Moses, and Medeski, Martin and Wood. As a scholar, Mantilla is associated with institutions such as Stanford University through the Stanford Jazz Workshop, and the Berklee College of Music through the Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI), and gives workshops and lectures and runs rhythm/percussion oriented programs worldwide, through PERCUACTION's Global Rhythm Institute (GRI). Tanglewood
Tanglewood is a music venue in the towns of Lenox and Stockbridge in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts. It has been the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1937. Kenny Werner
Kenny Werner (born November 19, 1951) is an American jazz pianist, composer, and author. Early life Born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 19, 1951 and then growing up in Oceanside, Long Island, Werner began playing and performing at a young age, first appearing on television at the age of 11. Although he studied classical piano as a child, he enjoyed playing anything he heard on the radio and improvisation was his true calling. In high school and his first years of college he attended the Manhattan School of Music as a classical piano major. His aptitude for improvisation led him to the Berklee College of Music in 1970, where he met and studied with his first piano/spiritual teacher, Madame Chaloff. Reinhard Flatischler
Reinhard Flatischler (born in Vienna, Austria, in 1950) is a musician and composer, founder of the TaKeTiNa Rhythm Process, and leader of the percussion group MegaDrums. Biography Reinhard Flatischler was born in Vienna in 1950. He studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. He subsequently studied drums and percussion with master drummers from around the world. In 1970, Flatischler founded the TaKeTiNa Rhythm Process. Flatischler is a member of the scientific committee of the International Society for Music in Medicine. He works with physicians and scientists to conduct research on the effects of the TaKeTiNa rhythm process. He co-directs a project exploring rhythm in pain therapy along with the president of the German Pain Association (DGS), Gerhard H. H. Mueller-Schwefe. Savion Glover (born November 19, 1973) is an American tap dancer, actor, and choreographer. Early life The youngest of three sons, Glover was born to a white father, who left the family before he was born, and a black mother. Glover's great grandfather on his mother's side, Dick Lundy, was a shortstop in the Negro leagues. He managed eleven Negro league baseball teams, including the Newark Eagles.Lahr, 270. Newport Jazz Festival
The Newport Jazz Festival is an annual American multi-day jazz music festival held every summer in Newport, Rhode Island. Elaine Lorillard established the festival in 1954, and she and husband Louis Lorillard financed it for many years. They hired George Wein to organize the first festival and bring jazz to Rhode Island. Most of the early festivals were broadcast on Voice of America radio, and many performances were recorded and released as albums. In 1972, the Newport Jazz Festival was moved to New York City. In 1981, it became a two-site festival when it was returned to Newport while continuing in New York.
