This is an alphabetical list of the basso profondo, bass, bass-baritone and tenor soloists who have performed with the Alexandrov Ensemble (under its various titles) since its establishment in 1928. It is difficult to differentiate between regular and guest soloists, since many have alternated between the one category and the other during their careers, so they are all listed together. Soloists of whom no recordings have yet been found have been listed below as "other soloists". Hovhannes Tumanyan ( hy, Հովհաննես Թումանյան, classical spelling: Յովհաննէս Թումանեան, – March 23, 1923) was an Armenian poet, writer, translator, and literary and public activist. He is the national poet of Armenia. Tumanyan wrote poems, quatrains, ballads, novels, fables, and critical and journalistic articles. His work was mostly written in realistic form, that frequently revolves around everyday life of his time. Born in the historical village of Dsegh in the Lori region, at a young age Tumanyan moved to Tiflis, which was the centre of Armenian culture under the Russian Empire during the 19th and early 20th centuries. He soon became known to the wide Armenian society for his simple but very poetic works. Many films and animated films have been adapted from Tumanyan's works. Tuman Tumanian
Tuman Tumyan ( hy, Թուման Թումյան; 1879–1906) was an active participant of the Armenian national liberation movement. Tuman Tumyan was born in 1879 in Shusha, Russian Empire and had his local education there; one of his classmates was famed revolutionary Garegin Nzhdeh. Tumanian became known throughout Karabakh when he began publishing the ''Kokon'' newspaper in Shushi. He was instrumental in the engagement of gathering volunteer troops in Western Armenia. Tumanian died in action in 1906. Dsegh
Dsegh ( hy, Դսեղ), known as Tumanyan between 1938 and 1969, is a village in the Lori Province of Armenia. Dsegh is the birthplace of one of the most celebrated of Armenian poets Hovhannes Tumanyan from which took the name from 1938 to 1969. It is located about 13 km south of the city of Alaverdi , on the high right bank of the Debed River, on a peninsula surrounded by forests, on the western side of which is the Debed Gorge. Tumanyan, Armenia
Tumanyan ( hy, Թումանյան), is a town and urban municipal community in Armenia's northern Lori Province, on the banks of the Debed River and in the middle of the Debed Canyon. It's 149 km north of the capital Yerevan, and 131km from Tbilisi. The population is estimated to be about 1000 people, down from a peak of about 3000. The nearby villages of Kober kayaran, Shamut, Lorut, Ahnidzor, Atan, Marts and Karinj are also part of the Tumanyan community.
