Tukaram (film)
''Tukaram'' is a 2012 Marathi biopic on the life of Saint Tukaram, who was a 17th-century Varkari saint, spiritual poet and devotee of Vitthala. The film was directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni. The 1936 Marathi film ''Sant Tukaram'' by directors Vishnupant Govind Damle and Sheikh Fattelal under the banner of Prabhat Film Company became the first Indian film to receive an award at the 5th Venice International Film Festival. The film still remains popular and is the subject of frequent studies. This was also the first film to capture the life of Tukaram. The 2012 film that was released after 76 years is the second film in Marathi based on the same subject. The subject was also inspiration for Kannada film ''Santa Thukarama'' (1963) and Telugu film ''Bhakta Tukaram'' (1973). Chandrakant Kulkarni
Chandrakant Kulkarni (born 1963) is an Indian director, script writer and actor associated with Marathi theatre and film. He is known for his works of directing the plays ''Wada Chirebandi'', ''Dhyanimani'', ''Gandhi Virudh Gandhi'' and most recently the remake of ''Hamidabaichi Kothi''. He has also directed the acclaimed films ''Bindhaast'' (1999) and ''Tukaram'' (2012). At the 61st National Film Awards, his film '' Aajcha Divas Majha'' won the award for Best Feature Film in Marathi. Career Theatre Chandrakant Kulkarni came to Mumbai from Aurangabad, Maharashtra, aspiring to work in the entertainment industry. After working on various plays Kulkarni directed the eight-hour-long trilogy play ''Wada Chirebandi'' written by Mahesh Elkunchwar in 1994. ''The Afternoon Despatch & Courier'' was an evening tabloid in Mumbai, India. The newspaper was launched by Behram Contractor, better known as "Busybee", on 25 March 1985. This newspaper served as a launch pad for several well-known journalists in India. The Afternoon Despatch & Courier concentrates on news and features from Mumbai and the adjoining cities. ''Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Marathi'' is an Indian Marathi musical game show. It is airing on Zee Marathi from 18 September 2006. The show had completed its 25 years in the year 2020. So, channel had arranged 2.30 hours special episode as live show in lockdown period on 24 May 2020 with named as "Ek Desh, Ek Raag". Previously, this function was planned on May 17, but later it was changed to 24 May. The show aimed to discover the best singing talent in the age range of 5–15 years from the Maharashtra. ''Mid-Day'' (stylised as mid-day) is a morning daily Indian compact newspaper owned by Jagran Prakashan Limited. Editions in various languages were published in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Pune. Bahinabai
Bahinabai (1628–1700 AD) or Bahina or Bahini is a Varkari female-saint from Maharashtra, India. She is considered as a disciple of another Varkari poet-saint Tukaram. Having been born in a Brahmin family, Bahinabai was married to a widower at a young age and spent most of her childhood wandering around Maharashtra along with her family. She describes, in her autobiography ''Atmamanivedana'', her spiritual experiences with a calf and visions of the Varkari's patron deity Vithoba and Tukaram.
