Cambodia is divided into 25 provinces ( km, ខេត្ត, ). The capital Phnom Penh is not a province but an "autonomous municipality" ( km, រាជធានី, link=no, ; lit. 'Capital'), equivalent to a province governmentally and administered at the same level as the other 24 provinces. Phnom Penh has both the highest population and the highest population density of all provinces, but is the second smallest in land area. The largest province by area is Mondulkiri and the smallest is Kep which is also the least populated province. Mondulkiri has the lowest population density. Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh (; km, ភ្នំពេញ, ) is the capital and most populous city of Cambodia. It has been the national capital since the French protectorate of Cambodia and has grown to become the nation's primate city and its economic, industrial, and cultural centre. Phnom Penh succeeded Angkor Thom as the capital of the Khmer nation but was abandoned several times before being reestablished in 1865 by King Norodom. The city formerly functioned as a processing center, with textiles, pharmaceuticals, machine manufacturing, and rice milling. Its chief assets, however, were cultural. Khan Sen Sok
Sen Sok ( km, សែនសុខ) is an administrative district (''khan'') of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It contains the Sen Sok International University Hospital. Administration Khan Sen Sok was established in 2008–2009 by taking three Sangkats—Khmuonh, Phnom Penh Thmei and Tuek Thla—from Khan Russey Keo. The population recorded in the resulting area by the 2008 census was 120,579. In 2010 Ponhea Pon, Prek Pnov and Samraong communes were added to the Khan from Ponhea Lueu District, Kandal Province. In 2013, the latter three Sangkats formed a part of a new entity, Khan Prek Pnov, while Sangkat Krang Thnong, previously belonging to Khan Pou Senchey, was added to Sen Sok. In 2016, two new Sangkats were established by separating areas from existing subdivisions—Ou Baek K'am from Tuek Thla and Kouk Khleang from Phnom Penh Thmei. Administrative divisions of Cambodia have several levels. Cambodia is divided into 24 provinces (''Khaet''; km, ខេត្ត, ) and the special administrative unit Phnom Penh. Though a different administrative unit, Phnom Penh is at province level, so ''de facto'' Cambodia has 25 provinces and municipalities. Each province is divided into districts (''Srok''/''Khan''; , /) - there are 159 districts throughout the country’s provinces, and 12 are in Phnom Penh. Russey Keo ( km, ប្ញស្សីកែវ ; meaning "Crystal Bamboo"), also spelled as Russei Keo, is a district ('' khan'') in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This district consists of the northern and north-eastern outskirts of the main city of Phnom Penh, stretching from Khan Sen Sok in the west to the Tonlé Sap River in the east.
