Alan Tuckett
Sir Alan John Tuckett, (born 3 April 1948) is a British adult education specialist and campaigner. He was the Chief Executive of the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) from 1988 to 2011, and President of the International Council for Adult Education from 2011 to 2015. He is currently Professor of Education at the University of Wolverhampton. In 2020, the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) founded with means of the BMBF (German Federal Ministry of Education and Research) a guest professorship for Tuckett at the University of Würzburg. He was educated at Launceston College, Cornwall and graduated with a first class degree in English and American Literature from the University of East Anglia in 1969. Tuckett was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 1995 Birthday Honours for services to adult further education. Carl McArthur Tuckett (born 18 May 1970) is a West Indian former cricketer who played one One Day International (ODI) in 1998. He represented Leeward Islands in the West Indian domestic circuit. He is a right arm medium fast bowler. In his only ODI, he had figures of 2 wickets for 41 runs from 8 overs against England at Queen's Park Oval, Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad, on 8 April 1998. In that match, he dismissed Alec Stewart and Graeme Hick. Following his career as a player, he is now an umpire and stood in the tour matches between St Kitts Invitational XI against an England XI in April 2015. George Elias Tuckett (December 4, 1835, Exeter, England - February 19, 1900) was mayor of Hamilton, Ontario in 1896. Tuckett built a fortune during the American Civil War, cornering a chunk of the tobacco market. He also founded the Tuckett Tobacco Company in 1857. It was acquired by Imperial Tobacco in 1930. He is buried in the Tuckett family crypt, located in Hamilton Cemetery. Glen Tuckett (December 11, 1927 – October 26, 2021) was the coach of the Brigham Young University (BYU) baseball team from 1959 to 1976 and then BYU athletic director from 1976 to 1994. Tuckett was raised in Murray, Utah. Tuckett played for the Salt Lake Bees and later for Salem's team. Prior to coming to BYU Tuckett coached the Calvary Dodgers. In 1995 Tuckett was appointed interim director of the University of Alabama athletic program in the wake of an NCAA investigation of violations in the program. Lindsay Richard 'Len' Tuckett (19 April 1885 – 8 April 1963) was a South African cricketer who played in one Test in 1914. He was the father of Lindsay who also played Test cricket. He played domestic cricket for Natal and Orange Free State. Tuckett is part of one of the more unusual first-class batting records. Playing for the Orange Free State against Western Province at Bloemfontein in the 1925–26 Currie Cup, Tuckett was involved in a century partnership for the tenth wicket in each innings, the only time this has occurred in first-class cricket.
