Tubber GAA
Tubber GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Tubber, County Clare, Tubber, County Clare, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History Located near the village of Tubber, County Clare, Tubber, County Clare and overlooking the Burren, Tubber GAA Club affiliated to the Clare GAA, Clare County Board in 1885. The club fielded teams in both hurling and Gaelic football in the early years, however, emigration and political tensions resulted in the Tubber club stagnating for almost 35 years. There was a revival in 1923, when Gaelic football was abandoned, and the club contested several Clare Junior Hurling Championship, Clare JHC finals without success. Tubber regraded to the intermediate ranks in 1937 and claimed the Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship, Clare IHC on its first attempt. Tubber, County Clare
Tubber () is a village in the north of County Clare, Ireland. Location The village is part of the barony of Inchiquin, about from Corofin on the road to Gort in County Galway. The village of Tubber in County Clare is the southern part of a loosely defined rural community that spans the border between County Galway and County Clare. Tubber, County Galway is adjacent and lies in the parish of Beagh in the Diocese of Kilmacduagh. The area as a whole roughly encompasses the townlands with a radius of St Michael's church at Tubber Cross. Clare Senior Hurling Championship
The Pat O'Donnell & Co. Senior Hurling Championship, more commonly known as the'' Clare Senior Hurling Championship ''or'' Clare SHC, ''is an annual hurling competition organised by the Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. It is contested by the top-ranking senior hurling clubs in Clare, Ireland. It is the most prestigious competition in Clare hurling. Introduced in 1887 as the Clare Hurling Championship, it was initially a straight knockout tournament open only to senior-ranking club teams. The championship has gone through a number of changes throughout the years, including the use of a round robin, before reverting to a straight knockout format. In its current format, the Clare Senior Hurling Championship begins once the Clare senior hurling team have concluded their All-Ireland Championship campaign, with seventeen club teams competing in the championship. 1955 Railway Cup Hurling Championship
The 1955 Railway Cup Hurling Championship was the 29th series of the inter-provincial hurling Railway Cup. Three matches were played between 13 March 1955 and 3 April 1955 to decide the title. It was contested by Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. Leinster entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Munster at the semi-final stage. On 3 April 1955, Munster won the Railway Cup after a 6-08 to 3-04 defeat of Connacht in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. It was their 22nd Railway Cup title overall and their first title since 1953. 1953 Railway Cup Hurling Championship
The 1953 Railway Cup Hurling Championship was the 27th series of the inter-provincial hurling Railway Cup. Three matches were played between 8 February 1953 and 17 March 1953 to decide the title. It was contested by Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster. Munster entered the championship as the defending champions. On 17 March 1953, Munster won the Railway Cup after a 5-07 to 5-05 defeat of Leinster in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. It was their 21st Railway Cup title overall and their sixth title in succession. Munster's Christy Ring was the Railway Cup top scorer with 3-05. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The first Railway Cup competitions (the name is due to the donation of the trophy by Irish Rail) were held in 1927, with Munster winning the first football title and Leinster winning the first hurling title. Presently, Ulster hold the record for the most football Railway Cup wins with 30, while Munster has won the most hurling titles with 43. Donal O'Grady (Clare Hurler)
Donal O'Grady (23 November 1927 – 20 January 2024) was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Tubber and Faughs and was also a member of the Clare senior hurling team. Career O'Grady first appeared on the inter-county scene for Clare as a member of the minor team in 1945. After a period away from the game, he returned to inter-county activity in 1948. O'Grady won a Munster JHC medal a year later, however, Clare subsequently suffered a 3–07 to 3–06 defeat by London in the 1949 All-Ireland junior final. O'Grady immediately progressed onto the senior team and won an Oireachtas Cup medal in 1954. He lined out in the 1955 Munster final defeat by Limerick. O'Grady also earned selection to the Munster team and won Railway Cup medals in 1953 and 1955. His career with Clare ended in 1956 when he moved to Dublin, however, he continued his club hurling with Faughs. 2013 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2013 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 126th staging of the All-Ireland championship since its establishment in 1887. The draw for the 2013 fixtures took place on 4 October 2012. The championship began on 5 May 2013 and ended on 28 September 2013 with Clare winning their fourth All Ireland title after a 5–16 to 3–16 win against Cork in the replayed final. Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny were the 2012 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final, defending champions. However, they were knocked out of the Leinster Championship by eventual Leinster champions Dublin GAA, Dublin at the semi-final stage and Cork saw them off in the All-Ireland quarter-final. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Patrick O'Connor (hurler)
Patrick O'Connor (born 6 February 1991) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Tubber and was a member of the Clare senior inter-county team from 2011 until he retired form inter-county hurling in 2022. He made his Championship debut for Clare against Tipperary in the 2011 Munster Senior Hurling Championship on 19 July 2011. Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition organised by the Clare GAA, Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association for the second tier hurling teams in the county of County Clare, Clare in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Cusack Park (Ennis), Cusack Park. The championship includes a group stage which is followed by a knock-out phase for the top teams. There is also promotion involving the Clare Senior Hurling Championship and relegation involving the Clare Junior Hurling Championship. In 2012 it was decided that from 2014 onwards the Clare Senior Hurling Championship would become a single sixteen team championship. Clare Junior Hurling Championship
Clare Junior Hurling Championship is the third-tier hurling competition organized by the Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The competition is confined to clubs organised by Clare GAA. The winners usually will play in the intermediate grade the following year for the Clare Intermediate Hurling Championship. They will also represent Clare GAA in the Munster Junior Club Hurling Championship. The 2022 Junior Champions are St Joseph's Doora-Barefield GAA, St. Joseph's, Doora-Barefield who defeated their near-neighbours Éire Óg, Inis GAA, Éire Óg, Ennis by a single point to be crowned champions for the fifth time at this grade.
