Tub (container)
A tub is an open-top circular or oblong container. In earlier times they were made from wooden stave (wood), staves held together with iron hoops and were made by cooper (profession), coopers. Modern tubs used in industry might be made from concrete, metal or plastic. Small plastic tubs used in the home may have a separate or attached snap-on lid (container), lid or cover; some tubs may have latched lids. Tubs are used for multiple packaging applications as well as household and industrial storage. Construction Many tubs are made of formed thermoplastics such as Polyethylene terephthalate, PET polyester, polystyrene, or polypropylene. Processes of creating tubs are either thermoforming or injection moulding. Tubs can also be formed of paperboard, molded pulp, and aluminum. Some tubs have special microwave features such as susceptors Tubs can have a heat sealed ''lidding film'' attached prior to the lid being placed on. Some tubs have a Tamper-evident band or ''security ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

TUB (gene)
Tubby protein homolog is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ''TUB'' gene. This gene encodes a member of the Tubby family of bipartite transcription factors. The encoded protein may play a role in obesity and sensorineural degradation. The crystal structure has been determined for a similar protein in mouse, and it functions as a membrane-bound transcription regulator that translocates to the nucleus in response to phosphoinositide hydrolysis. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene. Interactions TUB (gene) has been shown to Protein-protein interaction, interact with PLCG1. Time Unit Box System
Time Unit Box System (TUBS) is a simple system for notating events that happen over a period. This system is mostly used for notating rhythms in music. The notation consists of one or more rows of boxes; each box represents a fixed unit of time. Blank boxes indicate that nothing happens during that interval, while a mark in a box indicates that an event occurs at the start of that time interval. TUBS is most useful for showing relationships between complex rhythms, such as polyrhythms, that would be difficult to see in traditional musical notation. TUBS also has the advantage that non-musicians can interpret it much more easily than musical notation, because of its simplicity. The term "TUBS" and the notation was originally used by musicologists Philip Harland and James Koetting to notate polyrhythms in African music in the early 1960s.Koetting, James "Analysis and Notation of West African Drum Ensemble Music." Citroën TUB
The Citroën TUB (from the French ''Traction Utilitaire Basse'' or ''Traction Utilitaire type B'') was a light van derived from the Traction Avant passenger car. The van was produced by Citroën between 1939 and 1941. In May 1941 an upgraded version, the Citroën TUC replaced the TUB, but by the end of that year the last of these vans had probably been produced. The TUB is the first commercial vehicle ever equipped with a lateral sliding door. Origins Pierre Michelin and Pierre-Jules Boulanger were brought in to take charge of Citroën by Michelin following their acquisition of the bankrupt auto-maker in December 1934. During the Summer of 1936 Boulanger received the results of an extensive investigation of customer requirements that he had commissioned. The exercise had been undertaken in preparation for the development of a van of approximately capacity - slightly more than the load that could be accommodated by a simple car-based van. Boulanger accumulated a large dossi ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Plant Pot
A flowerpot, planter, planterette or plant pot, is a container in which flowers and other plants are cultivated and displayed. Historically, and still to a significant extent today, they are made from plain terracotta with no ceramic glaze, with a round shape, tapering inwards. Flowerpots are now often also made from plastic, metal, wood, stone, or sometimes biodegradable material. An example of biodegradable pots are ones made of heavy brown paper, cardboard, or peat moss in which young plants for transplanting are grown. For seedling starting in commercial greenhouses or polytunnels, pots usually take the form of trays with cells, each cell acting as one small pot. These trays are often called flats. There are usually holes in the bottom of pots, to allow excess water to flow out, sometimes to a saucer that is placed under the flowerpot. The plant can use this water with its roots, as needed. Recently, some flowerpots have been made with an automatic watering system, usi ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
