''Tshwanelo'' is the fourth studio album by South African hip hop artist Tuks. The album was originally released in 2010 and later re-issued in 2012 because ''Tshwanelo''. Album art The album art for both the original and redistributed ''Tshwanelo'' differ, notably by spelling. In the original release cover it is written "Tswanelo" instead of "Tshwanelo" while the redistributed version has the allegedly correct spelling. Either way the original version was released officially. The album cover is thought to be quite similar to The Roots' highly acclaimed 2002 release ''Phrenology''. Tumelo Kepadisa (born 2 May 1981), simply known as Tuks Senganga or Tuks, is a South African motswako rapper born in Mafikeng, in the former homeland of the Bophuthatswana. He frequently performs in ethnic languages, though mostly Setswana. Tuks Senganga started writing in 1993, drawing inspiration from everyday issues in his immediate environment. His career took off in 2005 with his first album '' Mafoko A Me''. This was the album that earned him the Best Hip Hop Album Award at the 12th Annual MTN South African Music Awards (SAMA). ''Monopoly'' is the third studio album by Tuks. Critical reception The album was well received. Channel24 gave the album a 4/5, stating: "Expectedly, a lot of people might find the album exhaustive and preachy, and in some cases they might have a point – Tuks does seem to go on a bit. But at a time when most of local hip hop seems to apologetically fit itself into a commercial mould, Tuks’ impassioned audacity comes as a welcome breath of fresh air." South African Music Awards
The South African Music Awards (often simply the SAMAs) are the Recording Industry of South Africa's music industry awards, established in 1995. The ceremony is held annually, usually in late April or May, with the judging process starting in November of the previous year. The nominations are typically announced at the end of March. The winners receive a gold-plated statuette called a SAMA. The show has mostly been held at the Super Bowl in Sun City, with the exception of three years, and broadcast live on national broadcaster, SABC.
