Try My Love (Táta Vega Album)
''Try My Love'' is an R&B studio album by Táta Vega. It is her third solo album and was released on Motown's Tamla label in late 1978. While not as critically acclaimed as her two previous albums, it received the greatest success on Billboard's Pop and R&B album charts. The double-sided 12 inch single "I Just Keep Thinking About You Baby/Get It Up For Love" hit the Top 20 on Billboard's Dance Music charts. "I Just Keep Thinking About You Baby" was also a hit on Billboard's R&B charts. It was her most successful single during her Motown years. Brenda Russell (née Gordon; born April 8, 1949) is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and keyboardist. Russell has a diverse musical range which encompasses R&B, pop, soul, dance, and jazz. She has received five Grammy nominations. Life and background Brenda Gordon was born to musician parents, with her mother being a singer/songwriter and her father Gus Gordon (1926-2019), a one-time member of the Ink Spots. Pattie Brooks (sometimes credited as Patti Brooks and Patty Brooks) is an American singer most frequently associated with the disco era. She was born in Fort Riley, Kansas to a military family. Her first break came in 1968 when she auditioned for the chorus on ''The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour''. Jermaine La Jaune Jackson (born December 11, 1954) is an American singer-songwriter and bassist. He is best known for being a member of the Jackson family. Alfred Orlando Johnson (February 11, 1948 – October 26, 2013) was an American R&B singer, writer, arranger and producer. He co-wrote the song "We Have Love for You" with Deniece Williams from her 1977 album ''Songbird''. Biography Born in Newport News, Virginia in 1948, Johnson attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. and while there, co-founded the soul group, the Unifics. The group, with Johnson as lead singer, scored three hits on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1968 and 1969 for the Kapp Records label. The first, "Court of Love" climbed to #25, but reached #3 on the US '' Billboard'' R&B chart. The follow-up, "The Beginning of My End" got to #36 on the Hot 100 and #9 R&B. Autry DeWalt Mixon Jr. (June 14, 1931 – November 23, 1995), known professionally as Junior Walker, was an American multi-instrumentalist (primarily saxophonist and vocalist) who recorded for Motown during the 1960s. He also performed as a session and live-performing saxophonist with the band Foreigner during the 1980s. ''Hard Candy'' is the second solo album by Ned Doheny. It features his version of "Love of Your Own" (written with Hamish Stuart) which was also recorded with Stuart's Average White Band the same year. The album also includes Doheny's version of his own song “Get It Up for Love” which was originally recorded in 1975 by David Cassidy on his RCA album '' The Higher They Climb'' and released by Cassidy as a single.
