Truyện Tranh
Truyện tranh (Chữ Hán: 傳幀) means comic in Vietnamese (aka Vietnamese Comics). This term has the English name Viet comics created by '':vi:Bán nguyệt san Tuổi Hoa, Floral Age Bimonthly'' magazine in the 1960s to refer to comics originating in Vietnam. It is sometimes called by the older name Mạn họa (Chữ Hán: 漫畫). In Vietnamese sometimes it will be called by longer names such as: "Truyện tranh Việt Nam", "truyện tranh Việt", "truyện tranh nội", "truyện tranh ta", "truyện tranh trong nước",... to distinguish it from other types of foreign comics such as: "Truyện tranh Âu Mỹ" (Western comics), "truyện tranh Nhật Bản" (Manga),... Hesman
Hero Hesman ( vi, Dũng sĩ Hesman) is a Vietnamese science-fiction comic series created by artist Ignatius Nguyễn Hùng Lân and was published by Hanoi Fine Arts Publishing House. After running for four years, with 159 volumes, Hùng Lân was forced to switch to another project. Up until 2019, with support from the young Vietnamese comic creators, he wrote the 160th volume as a gift to his readers. History Hesman originally is an literary adaptation, adaptation of Voltron, a Japanese-American cartoon television series with first 4 volumes based on that cartoon. Hesman name is derived from "He's man" (He is a man, not a robot). The next 155 volumes of the series are Hùng Lân's own composition with many events and tens of characters were created. An American comic book is a thin periodical originating in the United States, on average 32 pages, containing comics. While the form originated in 1933, American comic books first gained popularity after the 1938 publication of ''Action Comics'', which included the debut of the superhero Superman. This was followed by a superhero boom that lasted until the end of World War II. Bùi Xuân Phái
Bùi Xuân Phái (September 1, 1920 – June 24, 1988) was a Vietnamese painter. He is famous for the paintings of Hanoi Old Quarter. He also painted the actors and musicians of Vietnamese opera. Biography The best known of all Vietnamese modern painters, Phai is respected and admired for both his art and moral character. He epitomizes for the Vietnamese the lone artist suffering for his art: he lost his teaching position at the Hanoi College of Fine Arts in 1957 for supporting Nhân Văn affair a movement for political and cultural freedom and was not allowed to show his work in public until a solo exhibition in 1984. However, in 1996, he was posthumously awarded with a Hồ Chí Minh prize. Bui Xuan Phai unfortunately died in 1988, in Hanoi, the place of his birth. Tô Ngọc Vân
Tô Ngọc Vân (蘇玉雲, 15 December 1906 or 1908 – 17 June 1954), also known as Tô Tử, was a Vietnamese painter. Several of his paintings are being displayed at the Vietnam National Museum of Fine Arts. He taught a resistance art class in the northern zone during the war with the French, and died as the result of injuries received at the Battle of Điện Biên Phủ. He was among the first recipients of the Ho Chi Minh Prize in 1996. He worked as painting teacher in Bưởi school, professor at the École des Beaux-Arts de l’Indochine and principal of the Việt Bắc Art School and has had significant influence on a whole generation of artists in Vietnam. Vân contributed to the magazines of Tự Lực văn đoàn ("Self-Strengthening literary group") by drawing cartoons on current events, social issues, and everyday live.
