Trusted Internet Connection
The Trusted Internet Connection initiative (also known as TIC, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Memorandum M-08-05) is mandated in an OMB Memorandum issued in November 2007. The memorandum was meant to optimize individual external connections, including internet points of presence currently in use by the Federal government of the United States. It includes a program for improving the federal government’s incident response capability through a centralized gateway monitoring at a select group of TIC Access Providers (TICAP). By reducing the number of access points, the government could more easily monitor and identify potentially malicious traffic. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the largest office within the Executive Office of the President of the United States (EOP). Networx
The GSA Networx is a set of federal government contracts for civilian telecommunication for the General Services Administration (GSA) in the United States. It consists of two programs - Networx Universal and Networx Enterprise to support the Trusted Internet Connection initiative by Office of Management and Budget. Networx Universal is the large contract vehicle, and is expected to meet most of the governments requirements for telecommunications services. Its terms includes a 48-month base period plus three 24-month option periods. Trusted Network Connect
Trusted Network Connect (TNC) is an open architecture for Network Access Control, promulgated by the Trusted Network Connect Work Group (TNC-WG) of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG). History The TNC architecture was first introduced at the RSA Conference in 2005. TNC was originally a network access control standard with a goal of multi-vendor endpoint policy enforcement. In 2009 TCG announced expanded specifications which extended the specifications to systems outside of the enterprise network. Additional uses for TNC which have been reported include Industrial Control System (ICS), SCADA security, and physical security.
