Truman Spangrud
Casper "Truman" Spangrud (born December 21, 1934) is a retired lieutenant general in the United States Air Force. He was commander of Air University from 1986 to 1988. Spangrud was born in 1934, in Kennedy, Minn., and graduated from Karlstad (Minn.) High School in 1952. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson, in 1956 and a master of science degree in business administration from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 1966. He is a graduate of Air Command and Staff College and the National War College. Commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1956, the general completed pilot training at Marana Air Base, Arizona, and Greenville Air Force Base, Mississippi, in December 1957. Offutt Air Force Base is a U.S. Air Force base south of Omaha, adjacent to Bellevue in Sarpy County, Nebraska.
