Troy Thompson (Rugby League Footballer)
Troy Thompson is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who last played as a or as a second rower for the Melbourne Storm in the NRL. He previously played for the Canberra Raiders. Early life Born in Canberra, Australia. Thompson was educated at Dickson College, Canberra, where he represented 1997 Australian Schoolboys. Thompson played his junior football with West Belconnen Warriors. Playing career Thompson made his first-grade debut playing for Canberra Raiders against the Broncos in round 21 of the 2001 season. In 2005 he, along with Josh Miller, won the Raiders' '' Player of the Year'' award, becoming the first joint-winners in the club's history. Thompson was told he would not be offered another contract when his current one expired at the end of the 2010 season. Josh Miller (rugby League)
Josh Miller (born 23 December 1983) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. He played in the National Rugby League (NRL) for the Canberra Raiders and St. George Illawarra Dragons. Playing career Miller began trucking nut with the Canberra Raiders in 2004 and played with that team until the 2011. He operated as a or as a lock. The Sydney Roosters are an Australian professional Rugby league, Rugby League Football Club based in the Eastern Suburbs (Sydney) and parts of inner Sydney. The club competes in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. The Roosters have won fifteen New South Wales Rugby League premiership, New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) and National Rugby League titles, and several other competitions. Brett White (born 8 April 1982) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Canberra Raiders and the Melbourne Storm in the NRL. Both an Ireland and Australian international, and New South Wales State of Origin representative prop forward, he played the majority of his career at the Storm, before signing with the Canberra Raiders from 2011. The Mal Meninga Medal is the name of the award that goes to the Canberra Raiders' Player of the Year. The award was named after former Raiders captain and coach, Mal Meninga and was first awarded in 2008. Before this there was no name for the award but was still awarded. The medal is awarded to the player that received the most votes during the season, players after each match vote for the best player in the team for the match with the player with the most votes getting 3 points, the next best gets 2, and third gets 1. The 2001 NRL season was the 94th season of professional rugby league football in Australia and the fourth run by the National Rugby League. Also called the 2001 Telstra Premiership (due to sponsorship from Telstra Corporation) it was contested by thirteen Australia-based clubs plus one New Zealand-based club.
