Troy Moss Smith (born June 29, 1965) is an American politician and businessman serving as a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives from the 84th district. He assumed office on January 7, 2020. Education Smith graduated from Quitman High School in Quitman, Mississippi and attended Jones County Junior College. Career Outside of politics, Smith owns Long's Fish Camp, a seafood restaurant in Enterprise, Clarke County, Mississippi. He also represented the third district on the Clark County Board of Supervisors. The Mississippi House of Representatives is the lower house of the Mississippi Legislature, the lawmaking body of the U.S. state of Mississippi. According to the state constitution of 1890, it is to comprise no more than 122 members elected for four-year terms. To qualify as a member of the House candidates must be at least 21 years old, a resident of Mississippi for at least four years, and a resident in the district for at least two years. Elections are held the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Membership, qualifications, and apportionment Article 4, Section 36 of the Mississippi Constitution specifies that the state legislature must meet for 125 days every four years and 90 days in other years. Quitman High School is a comprehensive public junior/senior high school for grades seven through twelve serving the community of Quitman, Arkansas, United States. Quitman High School is the only high school managed in rural Cleburne County by the Quitman School District. Quitman, Mississippi
Quitman is a city in Clarke County, Mississippi, United States, along the Chickasawhay River. The population was 2,323 at the 2010 census. Quitman is the county seat of Clarke County. History Quitman was established in 1839 and named as the county seat. During the Civil War, a hospital built with funds raised in Galveston and Houston, among other places, was built there for the care of Confederate soldiers from Texas. Originally staffed by Dr. Louis Bryan with supplies purchased in Mexico, he was joined, and later supplanted, by Dr. Enos Bonney, a surgeon from Enterprise, Mississippi, who stayed until the hospital was burned down. Bonney married and had a son; he died in 1869 in Bellville, Texas. Though it cared for troops from any state, the hospital was colloquially known as "The Texas Hospital." Jones College is a public community college in Ellisville, Mississippi. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and serves its eight-county district consisting of Clarke, Covington, Greene, Jasper, Jones, Perry, Smith and Wayne counties. The college holds membership in the Mississippi Association of Colleges, the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference and NJCAA. Although a community college, its sports teams have some achieved some notability.
