The Trondheimsleia is a strait in Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag counties in Norway. The long strait runs between the islands of Smøla and Hitra and the mainland municipalities of Aure, Heim, and Orkland. The strait has several fjords which branch off it including the Ramsøyfjorden, Hemnfjorden, and Trondheimsfjorden. The islands of Leksa are located in the Trondheimsleia in Orkland. Hemnfjorden
The Hemnfjorden is a fjord in Trøndelag county in Norway. The long fjord forms the boundary between the municipalities of Heim, Hitra, and Orkland. The fjord begins at the village of Kyrksæterøra at the mouths of the rivers Søo and Haugaelva. The fjord flows northwards until it joins the Trondheimsleia. The Åstfjorden and Snillfjorden are smaller fjords which branch off the main Hemnfjorden to the east into Orkland municipality. The deepest point in the fjord reaches below sea level. The village of Heim lies along the western shore of the fjord, and the municipal center of Hemne, Kyrksæterøra lies at the southern end of the fjord, and the village of Ytre Snillfjord lies on the southeast side of the fjord. Hitra Tunnel
The Hitra Tunnel ( no, Hitratunnelen) is an undersea tunnel in Hitra Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The tunnel connects the island of Hitra to the mainland. The tunnel is long and reaches a depth of below sea level, making it the deepest tunnel in the world when it was built. The tunnel begins on the island of Jøsnøya, just south of the village of Sandstad. The tunnel then runs under the Trondheimsleia to the island of Hemnskjela. Leksa
Leksa refers to two islands in the Trondheimsleia strait in Trøndelag county, Norway. They are located in the municipality of Orkland. Leksa is made up of the smaller north island, Nord-Leksa, and the larger south island, Sør-Leksa. The two islands have been connected by a small causeway since 1986. There are about 30 inhabitants between the two islands with about four farms still in use. Leksa has a store and a post office, and is used as a recreational resort. There is a car ferry from Vernes on the mainland to Nord-Leksa and ten another one to Garten from Nord-Leksa. The Sør-Leksa port is for express catamaran boat between the cities of Trondheim and Kristiansund. Hitra (island)
Hitra is an island in Hitra municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island is the 7th largest island in Norway (excluding Svalbard) and it is the largest island south of the Lofoten archipelago. The island lies between the Trondheimsleia strait and the Frøyfjorden, just southwest of the entrance to the Trondheimsfjorden. Hitra is surrounded by many islands such as Smøla to the southwest; Bispøyan, Helgbustadøya, Dolmøya, and Frøya to the north; Ulvøya, Fjellværsøya, and Leksa to the east; and Hemnskjela and the mainland of Norway to the south. The tall Mørkdalstuva is the highest point on the island. Most of the island's residents live near the coastline. Trondheimsfjorden
The Trondheim Fjord or Trondheimsfjorden (), an inlet of the Norwegian Sea, is Norway's third-longest fjord at long. It is located in the west-central part of the country in Trøndelag county, and it stretches from the municipality of Ørland in the west to the municipality of Steinkjer in the north, passing the city of Trondheim on its way. Its maximum depth is , between Orkland and Indre Fosen. The largest islands in the fjord are Ytterøya and Tautra; the small island of Munkholmen is located near the harbor of Trondheim; and there are several islands at the entrance of the fjord. Trøndelag
Trøndelag (; sma, Trööndelage) is a county in the central part of Norway.
