Trofeo Delle Regioni (football)
Torneo delle Regioni is an annual Italian football tournament for amateur teams which represent the Italian regions. It has been played since 1959 and, from 1998, the winner has taken part in the UEFA Regions' Cup. In 2010 it merged with Coppa Nazionale Primavera, an event for ''Allievi'' and ''Giovanissimi '' representative teams of Italian regions. The trophy now had 6 events, ''Juniores'' for U18 players, ''Allievi'' for U16 players and ''Giovanissimi'' for U15 players, as well as female representative teams and 5-a-side football (both male and female respectively). Italian Regions
The regions of Italy ( it, regioni d'Italia) are the first-level administrative divisions of the Italian Republic, constituting its second NUTS administrative level. There are twenty regions, five of which have higher autonomy than the rest. Under the Italian Constitution, each region is an autonomous entity with defined powers. With the exception of the Aosta Valley (since 1945) and Friuli-Venezia Giulia (since 2018), each region is divided into a number of provinces (''province''). History During the Kingdom of Italy, regions were mere statistical districts of the central state. Under the Republic, they were granted a measure of political autonomy by the 1948 Italian Constitution. The original draft list comprised the Salento region (which was eventually included in Apulia); ''Friuli'' and ''Venezia Giulia'' were separate regions, and Basilicata was named ''Lucania''. UEFA Regions' Cup
The UEFA Regions' Cup is a football competition for amateur teams in Europe, run by UEFA. It was held for the first time in 1999 and has been played biennially since. The 2019 champions are the Lower Silesia team from Poland. The competition was created in 1996 as there was no European level competition for amateur teams. The UEFA Amateur Cup, a previous attempt to organise a continental competition for amateurs, had run from 1966 to 1978, but ceased due to lack of interest from both the public and amateur teams themselves. In contrast to today's Regions' Cup, in which amateur regions are represented, the previous competition was for representative amateur national teams. Each UEFA member nation may enter one representative amateur team into the competition, with regions having to win a domestic amateur competition (such as the FA Inter-League Cup) in order to qualify. FA Inter-League Cup
The FA Inter-League Cup (formerly known as the FA National League System Cup or FA NLS Cup) is a football competition run by The Football Association. It was created in the 2003–04 season to provide an English representative in the UEFA Regions' Cup. History In previous Regions' Cups, the FA had nominated a team to take part; in the 2002–03 season it was a Kent County League XI. UEFA decreed that in the future all Regions' Cup entrants must have won a national competition, and so the NLS Cup was formed. The cup is contested by representative sides from leagues at Step 7 of the National League System, with a few other leagues permitted by the FA. That is roughly at the county level or eleventh overall tier of the English football league system. Spanish Stage Of The UEFA Regions' Cup
The Spanish stage of the UEFA Region's Cup is a biennial Spanish football tournament for amateur teams which represent the Spanish Autonomous Communities. Its winner qualifies for the next UEFA Regions' Cup, played the following year. History The tournament was created in 1999, after the 1999 UEFA Regions' Cup where there was no qualifying tournament and Madrid represented Spain in the international contest (they eventually finished as runners-up). It is contested by all 19 autonomous cities and communities, with Navarre the last territory to participate in 2005. Only amateur players between 18 and 35 years old, who never signed a professional contract, are eligible for this tournament.
