Josef Forster (composer)
Josef Forster (20 January 1838, Trofaiach - 23 March 1917, Vienna) was an Austrian composer; known primarily for his operas and operettas. Biography He was one of ten children born to Jakob Forster, an organist, and his wife Klara, the daughter of a choirmaster. After beginning his musical training at home, he became a choir boy at Admont Abbey, where he received further instruction from their organist, Franz Traunbauer (1775-1864). In 1854, he enrolled in the teacher training institute in Graz; followed by technical studies at the Joanneum (now the Graz University of Technology). It was during this time that he made his first attempts at composition; now lost. In 1865, he went to Vienna to study architecture, but soon gave up. To support himself, he worked as a private teacher. Forster also devised inventions which were not successful. He was, however, awarded several patents for optical devices, guns and engines. Hellmuth Stachel
Hellmuth Stachel (born October 6, 1942 in Graz, Austria) is an Austrian mathematician, a Professor of Geometry at the Technical University of Vienna, who is known due to his contributions to geometry, kinematics and computer-aided design. Biography Hellmuth Stachel was born on October 6, 1942 in Graz to the family of primary school teachers. He graduated from an elementary school in Trofaiach and secondary school (gymnasium) in Leoben. In 1965 he graduated from the University of Graz and Graz University of Technology, obtaining a diploma of a school teacher in “mathematics” and “ descriptive geometry.” As a Ph.D. student of Graz University he majored in “mathematics, astronomy and philosophy.” His doctoral advisor was Professor Fritz Hohenberg. Hellmuth Stachel obtained his doctorate in 1969 from Graz University and passed thought habilitation in 1971 at the Technical University of Graz. Hannes Arch
Hannes Arch (22 September 1967 – 8 September 2016) was an Austrian pilot who competed in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship from 2007 to 2016. Arch won the World Championship in the 2008 season. Early life Hannes Arch was born in Leoben, Austria in 1967. Death Hannes Arch died on 8 September 2016 in a helicopter crash in the Austrian Alps during a helicopter supply flight to a remote mountain lodge, the Elberfelder Hut. Shortly after takeoff at about 9:15 p.m., the helicopter struck the side of a mountain.http://kaernten.orf.at/news/stories/2795622/ (German) Arch died of a broken neck, a passenger survived the crash. Tragöß
Tragöß (or Tragoess) is a former municipality in the district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag in Styria, Austria. Since the 2015 Styria municipal structural reform, it is part of the municipality Tragöß-Sankt Katharein. It is home to Grüner See (Green Lake), which dries out almost completely in the autumn. In the spring the lake is filled with snow melt runoff. This gives the lake crystal clear water, the existing rocks and meadow give the lake its green colour.
