Triplemanía X was the tenth Triplemanía professional wrestling show promoted by AAA. The show took place on July 5, 2002, in Madero, Mexico. The Main event featured a ''Lucha de Apuestas'' match where each wrestler defended the hair of a referee. The participants in this match were Heavy Metal, Sangre Chicana, El Oriental, Electroshock, May Flowers and El Brazo. Production Background In early 1992 Antonio Peña was working as a booker and storyline writer for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), Mexico's largest and the world's oldest wrestling promotion, and was frustrated by CMLL's very conservative approach to ''lucha libre''. Triplemanía
Triplemanía is an annual Lucha Libre (professional wrestling) event promoted by the Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) promotion that is traditionally held in August each year. The name is a combination of how "AAA" is pronounced in Spanish, ''"Triple A"'', and WrestleMania, WWE's biggest annual show. It is the promotion's flagship event, featuring the culminations of several long-building storylines. Several events have been presented as a series of shows; either two or three per year. 40 shows have been promoted under the Triplemanía banner as of 2024; the latest event, Triplemanía_XXXII#Monterrey, Triplemanía XXXII: Monterrey, took place on April 27, 2024. Octagón
Octagón (born March 27, 1961) is a Mexican luchador enmascarado (masked professional wrestler). He is best known for working for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), having worked for the company since it was founded in 1992. In 2011 he was inducted into the promotion's Hall of Fame. Octagón formed a tag team with El Hijo Del Santo to take on Los Gringos Locos (Eddie Guerrero and Art Barr) in a double mask versus hair match on the first pay-per-view put on by a Mexican wrestling promotion to air in the United States. ''Lucha libre'' (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term for the style of professional wrestling originating in Mexico. Mario González Lozano (born April 18, 1969) is a Mexican '' luchador'', or professional wrestler, who works as an ''exótico'' for the Mexican Lucha Libre AAA World Wide promotion and Lucha Underground under the ring name Pimpinela Escarlata. As Escarlata he is a former AAA Reina de Reinas Champion, Mexican National Middleweight Champion and AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion. María Esther Moreno León (born February 20, 1969) is a Mexican '' luchadora'', or female professional wrestler best known under the ring name Esther Moreno. In AAA she is a former 2 time AAA Reina de Reinas Champion. Professional wrestling career In the early 1990s Esther and her sister Cynthia Moreno travelled to Japan to wrestle for All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling. On April 21, 1991 the Moreno sisters defeated Etsuko Mita and Mima Shimoda to win the AJW Tag Team Championship, making them the first Mexican team to hold a championship in Japan. In professional wrestling, a face (babyface) is a heroic, "good guy", "good-doer", or "fan favorite" wrestler, booked (scripted) by the promotion with the aim of being cheered by fans.
