The Church Mission Society (CMS), formerly known as the Church Missionary Society, is a British mission society working with the Christians around the world. Founded in 1799, CMS has attracted over nine thousand men and women to serve as mission partners during its 200-year history. The society has also given its name "CMS" to a number of daughter organisations around the world, including Australia and New Zealand, which have now become independent. Bodleian Library
The Bodleian Library () is the main research library of the University of Oxford, and is one of the oldest libraries in Europe. It derives its name from its founder, Sir Thomas Bodley. Alec Garden Fraser
Alexander Garden Fraser (6 October 1873 – 27 January 1962), , was a British educator and Anglican vicar. He was one of the founders of Achimota School and the first principal of the school (1924–1935). The other founders were Sir Frederick Gordon Guggisberg, former Governor of the Gold Coast (1919–1927), and Dr. James Emman Kwegyir Aggrey, the first assistant vice principal (1924–1927). Vedda People
The Vedda ( si, වැද්දා , ta, வேடர் (''Vēḍar'')), or Wanniyalaeto, are a minority indigenous group of people in Sri Lanka who, among other sub-communities such as Coast Veddas, Anuradhapura Veddas and Bintenne Veddas, are accorded indigenous status. The Vedda minority in Sri Lanka may become completely assimilated. Most speak Sinhala instead of their indigenous languages, which are nearing extinction. It has been hypothesized that the Vedda were probably the earliest inhabitants of Sri Lanka and have lived on the island since before the arrival of other ethnic groups in India. The Ratnapura District, which is part of the Sabaragamuwa Province, is known to have been inhabited by the Veddas in the distant past. This has been shown by scholars like Nandadeva Wijesekera. Edward Noel Hodges (1849 – 18 May 1928) was an Anglican bishop. Edward Noel Hodges was born in 1849 in Old Dalby, Leicestershire, England, the fourth son and the sixth of nine children of Abraham Hodges (1819-1910) and Jane née Rule (1808-1902). He was educated at The Queen's College, Oxford and ordained in 1873. He was a Tutor at the Mission College, Islington from 1873 to 1877. After this he was Principal of Noble College, Masulipatam ; and after that of Trinity College, Kandy. In 1890, he became Bishop of Travancore and Cochin, and was installed at the pro-cathedral in Kottayam during November that year. Returning to England in 1904, he was an Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Durham from 1904 to 1907; and in the Diocese of Ely from then until 1914.
