Trinity Church (Antarctica)
Holy Trinity Church (russian: Церковь Святой Троицы) is a small Russian Orthodox church on King George Island near Bellingshausen Station, a Russian research station in Antarctica. It is one of the eight churches on Antarctica. It is the southernmost Eastern Orthodox church in the world (cf. St. Ivan Rilski Chapel). The ambitious project to establish a permanent church or monastery on Antarctica first materialized during the 1990s. A charity named "Temple for Antarctica" (Храм — Антарктиде) was approved by Patriarch Alexius II and received donations from across Russia. They organized a competition for the project that was won by architects from Barnaul P.I. Anisifirov, S.G. Rybak and A.B. Schmidt. Gergeti Trinity Church ( - ''Tsminda Sameba'') is a popular name for Holy Trinity Church near the village of Stepantsminda in Georgia. The church is situated on the right bank of the river Chkheri (the left tributary of the river Terek), at an elevation of 2170 meters (7120 feet), under Mount Kazbek. History The Gergeti Trinity Church was built in the 14th century by an unknown architect, and is the only cross-cupola church in Khevi province. The separate belltower dates from the same period as the church itself, but built somewhat later. Its isolated location on top of a steep mountain surrounded by the vastness of nature has made it a symbol for Georgia. The 18th century Georgian author Vakhushti Batonishvili wrote that in times of danger, precious relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino's Cross were brought here for safekeeping. Trinity Church (formerly Peniel Pentecostal Church) is a church in Pilgrims Hatch in England. The church was founded by Michael Reid, who served as pastor of the church until stepping down in 2008, following various controversies. It is currently led by its former assistant pastor, Peter Linnecar. Doctrine Peniel Church described itself as an independent Pentecostal Christian church. Over the years, it aligned itself with and subsequently distanced itself from a number of Christian organisations, including the Assemblies of God and the International Communion of Charismatic Churches (ICCC). Trinity Church, Barrow-in-Furness
Trinity Church was a Presbyterian church located on School Street in Barrow-in-Furness, England. It is not the same building as the joint Methodist and URC church in Parkside, Barrow-in-Furness known as the Trinity Church Centre. History The church building was built in 1875 to accommodate the town's large Scottish Presbyterian congregation which had been meeting in the Welsh Chapel for ten years. In 1907 another Presbyterian church, St Andrew's, was built on Walney. The church closed nearly 100 years after its foundation in 1971 when congregations merged in the context of the creation of the United Reformed Church. Churchgoers moved to a former Congregationalist church. The Trinity building continued to be used for various functions, however in March 2005 was almost destroyed by fire when it was being used as a bike store. Trinity Church ( sv, Heliga trefaldighetskyrkan) is a church (building), church building in Kristianstad, Sweden, built between 1617 and 1628 by Christian IV of Denmark. He had founded the city of Kristianstad in 1614 at a time when Scania was part of the Kingdom of Denmark. The church's large size and style reveal the king's ambitions for his new city. The Trinity Church ( sv, Trefaldighetskyrkan, alternate, "German Church") is located at Karlskrona in Blekinge, Sweden. The Trinity Church (russian: Троицкая церковь or Церковь Троицы Живоначальной) was a Russian Orthodox church in Novocherkassk, Rostov Oblast, Russia. History The first wooden Trinity church was constructed on Troitskaya (''Trinity'') square in 1810. After some decades passed, in 1830, the church fence collapsed. In 1835, parishioners began to appeal to church authorities about the need to build a stone church. Architect Fomin, who compiled a project of a tripartite, five-domed, Byzantine-style church was asked to draft an appropriate project, which was later finished and approved on August 2, 1845. The Church of the Holy Trinity at the Borisovo Ponds (храм Троицы в Орехове-Борисове) is a metochion of the Patriarch of Moscow on the Kashira Highway in Orekhovo-Borisovo, a residential district in South Moscow. It was built in 2001–2004 to a Byzantine Revival design by Vladimir Kolosnitsyn, an architect favored by Mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov. Trinity Church (in Norwegian, Trefoldighetskirken), is a church in the Hammersborg neighborhood in central Oslo, Norway. Trinity Church is neighbor of the government buildings in Regjeringskvartalet. It is the parish church of the parish of Trinity, belonging to the Diocese of Oslo of the Church of Norway. It is one of the largest churches in Oslo (1000 seats). The church itself is in the raw red brick, while the vaults, arches and small columns have gray scale color.
