Trinity Baptiste
Trinity Baptiste is an American professional basketball player. She was drafted by the Indiana Fever in the 2021 WNBA draft but was waived by the team before the start of the season. Baptiste grew up in Tampa, Florida. She attended Hillsborough High School. She was named a McDonald's All-American in 2016. Baptiste started her college career at Northwest Florida State College. She appeared in 31 games and averaged 13 points per game on a 61% field goal percentage. She also averaged 8.3 rebounds. She transferred to Virginia Tech for her sophomore season. She appeared in 64 games for the Hokies and started 26. At Virginia Tech, she recorded 12 double-doubles. She was named ACC Sixth Player of the Year in 2020 and was named to the ACC All-Academic Team. Baptiste joined the University of Arizona as a graduate transfer after the 2020 season. Indiana Fever
The Indiana Fever are an American professional basketball team based in Indianapolis, playing in the Eastern Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team was founded before the 2000 season began. The team is owned by Herb Simon, who also owns the Fever's NBA counterpart, the Indiana Pacers, and Simon Malls. The Fever has qualified for the WNBA Playoffs in 13 of its 21 seasons in Indiana. Some of the players who have helped define the history of the Fever include the American players Tamika Catchings, Katie Douglas, and Tully Bevilaqua from Australia. In 2009, the Fever went to the WNBA Finals but fell short to Phoenix. On October 21, 2012, the Fever won the WNBA Championship with a win over the Minnesota Lynx. The 2021 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 64 teams to determine the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college basketball national champion for the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The 39th edition of the tournament began on March 21, 2021, in sites around San Antonio, Texas, and concluded with the championship game on April 4 at the Alamodome, with the Stanford Cardinal defeating the Arizona Wildcats 54–53 to win their third NCAA title. Due to logistical considerations surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic (which resulted in the cancellation of the 2020 tournament), and mirroring a similar decision by the men's tournament, the entire tournament was played in the San Antonio area rather than at sites across the country, with some first and second round games played in nearby San Marcos and Austin.
