''Trinity'' is a 2016 American psychological thriller film written and directed by Skip Shea in his feature directorial debut. Partly inspired by Shea's own experiences with clergy abuse, the film stars Sean Carmichael as Michael, an artist who becomes tortured by his past after a chance encounter with a priest who abused him as a child. There have been many cases of sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests, nuns, Popes and other members of religious life. In the 20th and 21st centuries, the cases have involved many allegations, investigations, trials, convictions, acknowledgement and apologies by Church authorities, and revelations about decades of instances of abuse and attempts by Church officials to cover them up. The Boston Underground Film Festival (BUFF) is an annual event held in the Boston area that specializes in alternative film and video. BUFF is the largest underground film festival in New England, spotlighting short films and feature-length films that would not otherwise find an audience.
