Trin Railway Station
Trin railway station is a station on the Reichenau-Tamins–Disentis/Mustér of the Rhaetian Railway in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It is situated alongside the Anterior Rhine, in the railway's scenic passage through the Ruinaulta or Rhine Gorge. The station is located on the north bank of the river in the municipality of Trin, although the village of Trin lies about to the north and some higher than the station. Trin is a municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the Imboden Region in the Switzerland, Swiss Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Graubünden. Crestasee is located in Trin. History Trin is first mentioned in the 12th Century as ''Turunnio''. Geography Trin is perched on the mountain-side above the Rhine valley on the road between Domat/Ems and Flims. The village of Mulin (also in the municipality) is at the foot of the slope on the edge of the valley. Trin has an area, , of . Of this area, 33.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 24.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.7% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (40.8%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). Rhaetian Railway
The Rhaetian Railway (german: Rhätische Bahn; it, Ferrovia retica; rm, Viafier retica), abbreviated RhB, is a Swiss transport company that owns the largest network of all private railway operators in Switzerland. Headquartered in Chur, the RhB operates all the railway lines of the Swiss canton of Grisons, except for the line from Sargans to the cantonal capital, Chur, which are operated by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS), as well as the line from Disentis/Mustér to the Oberalp Pass and further on to Andermatt, Uri, which is operated by Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB). The Reichenau-Tamins–Disentis/Mustér railway (also called the ''Oberländerlinie''—highland line) is a Swiss metre-gauge railway, which is operated by the Rhaetian Railway (''Rhätischen Bahn''; RhB). Ruinaulta
Ruinaulta is a canyon created by the Anterior Rhine by Ilanz/Glion and Reichenau in the debris of the Flims Rockslide just upstream of its confluence with the Posterior Rhine at Reichenau in the Grisons, eastern Switzerland. It is sometimes known as the ''Rhine Gorge'', or sometimes rather ironically called the ''Swiss Grand Canyon''. Protected by cliffs several hundred metres high, the area is forested and a haven for wildlife. It is a popular location for rafting. The gorge is largely inaccessible by road, but is traversed by the Disentis to Chur line of the Rhaetian Railway. RegioExpress (RE) is a fast regional train service in Switzerland, run by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS) or other railway companies (such as TILO, BLS, tpf, transN, THURBO or RhB). It is comparable to the Regional-Express in Germany, Austria and Luxembourg.
