In 2023, ''Tricliona'' was proposed as a synonym of ''Bathseba (beetle), Bathseba'' Motschulsky, 1866, while ''Tricliona foveipennis'' Bryant, 1950 (the only species described from New Guinea), was transferred to the genus ''Gressittella (beetle), Gressittella''.
