Amelia Trice
Amelia "Amy" Cutsack Trice (April 26, 1936 – July 21, 2011) was a Native American leader from Idaho. Born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Trice was the chairwoman of the Kootenai Tribal Council. In 1974, while chairman, the Kootenai tribe declared war on the United States of America. In the 1930s, the Kootenai Indians lived in tipis near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Their allotment lands had been dissipated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A local physician managed to persuade the government to build eighteen houses. These had running water, but no bathing facilities, which were provided in a community center. By the 1970s nothing had changed. Bob Trice
Robert Lee Trice (August 28, 1926 – September 16, 1988) was an American baseball pitcher who played for the Philadelphia / Kansas City Athletics (1953–1955). A native of Newton, Georgia, the right-hander stood and weighed 190 lbs. Career Trice's professional career began with the Negro league Homestead Grays, where he played from 1948 to 1950. He was brought to Philadelphia in 1953 after winning 21 games for the Ottawa A's of the International League. When Trice made his major league debut (September 13, 1953 at Connie Mack Stadium), he became the first black player in Athletics history. He appeared in three games for the A's that season, winning 2 and losing 1. He lost his first start, 5-2, to Don Larsen and the St. Louis Browns, but then defeated the Washington Senators in each of his other two starts. The Philadelphia Athletics were a Major League Baseball team that played in Philadelphia from 1901 to 1954, when they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and became the Kansas City Athletics. John G. Trice (May 12, 1902 – October 8, 1923) was a football player who became the first African-American athlete for Iowa State College. Trice died due to injuries suffered during a college football game against the University of Minnesota on October 6, 1923. He is the namesake for Jack Trice Stadium, Iowa State's football stadium. He lived most of his life in his native North Carolina and played in its regional blues style, often referred to as Piedmont blues, East Coast blues, or more generally country blues. Walter Maurice "Wally" Trice (born July 28, 1966 in San Diego, California) played in affiliated minor league baseball from 1988 to 1993, for the Mercuries Tigers of the Chinese Professional Baseball League in 1993 and in independent baseball in 1996. Prior to playing professionally, he attended Mar Vista High School and then U.S. International University. Selected by the Houston Astros in the 15th round of the 1988 amateur draft, Trice began his professional career that year with the Auburn Astros.
