Tribute Quartet
Tribute Quartet is an American southern gospel quartet based in Nashville, Tennessee. It was founded by Gary Casto and Josh Singletary in 2006. History In 2005 Jackie and Elaine Wilburn retired the Wilburn's and came off the road. Two of the remaining members, Gary Casto and Josh Singletary, formed Monument Quartet with Marshall Pugh and Dennis Dugger. Pugh was known for his time with Vestal Goodman and Dugger had previously sung with the Apostles. After their second project, in December 2006, Casto, Singletary and Dugger left and hired Jacob Kitson to form Tribute Quartet and were signed to BSA World Records. In 2008, Tribute was named Absolutely Gospel Music's Breakthrough Artist of the Year, were voted the Horizon Group of the Year by readers of ''Singing News'' magazine and brought the first change for the quartet when Kitson left the group in June to join Greater Vision. Vestal Goodman
Vestal Goodman (December 13, 1929 – December 27, 2003) was a singer who performed in the Southern gospel genre for more than half a century. She was known for her work as a solo performer and as a member of the Happy Goodman Family—which originated with her husband and his brothers and sisters—one of the pioneering groups in southern gospel music. Goodman was the fourth of six children, and she began singing in church as a child. Raised inside the Church of God, her original intent was to study for the Metropolitan Opera, but being raised in church she felt compelled to sing gospel music. She married Howard Goodman, a preacher nine years her senior, on November 7, 1949. They had a son Rick, and a daughter Vicki. They pastored churches and sang for congregations across the country. Greater Vision is an American Southern gospel music trio founded in 1990. It is one of Southern gospel's most popular trios and has been noted for their prolonged commercial and musical success spanning over two decades. As of 2017, the group is made up of Gerald Wolfe, Rodney Griffin, Chris Allman and Jon Epley. Over the last several years, this trio has consistently been named Southern gospel's top male trio, winning the Singing News Awards, Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, and have placed numerous top songs on the Southern Gospel Charts and Radio. The Talley Trio
The Talleys were a southern gospel trio composed of Roger and Debra Talley, and their daughter Lauren Talley as the lead and soprano singer. Performing over 20 years, they have made appearances all over the world. At the end of 2020 Roger and Debra retired as singers and Lauren began singing full time as a soloist at the start of 2021. Group history In the late 1960s, Roger, Diane, and Kirk sang together as the Talley Trio when they were children. Legacy Five is a Southern gospel quartet founded by former Cathedral Quartet members Roger Bennett and Scott Fowler in 1999, after the owners of the Cathedral Quartet, Glen Payne and George Younce, decided to retire in 1999. History Legacy Five's very first lineup consisted of tenor Josh Cobb, lead Scott Fowler, baritone Scott Howard, bass Glenn Dustin, and pianist Roger Bennett, who supplied a fifth vocal part in some songs. National Quartet Convention
The National Quartet Convention (NQC) is an annual gathering of Southern Gospel quartets and musicians. It is held at the Leconte Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, United States. History The first National Quartet Convention was held in 1957. J. D. Sumner, Cecil Blackwood and James Blackwood of The Blackwood Brothers were the founders of the famous National Quartet Convention formerly held in Memphis, Tennessee. The National Quartet Convention featured all the major gospel groups at a three-day event at the Ellis Auditorium in Memphis. After the first couple of years, the NQC was moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1959 and Atlanta, Georgia in 1960. It returned to Memphis in 1961 and was drawing annual crowds of 20,000 by the mid-1960s.
