Tribal Research and Cultural Institute was established under Tribal Welfare Department in the year 1970 as per the decision of the Government of India. Mizo People
The Mizo people ( Mizo: ''Mizo hnam'') are an ethnic group native to the Indian state of Mizoram and neighbouring regions of Northeast India. The term covers several related ethnic groups or clans inside the Mizo group. All Mizo tribes and clans claim in their folk legends that Sinlung (alternatively called "Chhinlung" or "Khul") was the cradle of the Mizos. Sinlung can either refer to "enclosed with a rock" in the Mizo languages or to a main ancestor named "Chin-Laung" from whom Mizo, Chin and other clans descended. Tripura State Tribal Museum
Tripura State Tribal Museum is a museum located within the premises of the Tribal Research and Cultural Institute at Agartala, India. The museum was conceived with the intention of promoting tribal heritage and culture. Collections The exhibits of the Museum are displayed under different sections, viz., Video Wall, Tribal Life Dioramas, Miscellaneous, Auditorium, Touch screen Kiosks, Natural History, art and Crafts, Anthropology & Folk Art & Arms section. The sculptures from the Tripura region fall into four principal categories - stone, wood, metal and terracotta. The collections which are on display here, are very rare. Uchoi
Uchoi is one of Tripuri clan lives in Tripura state of India and Bangladesh. They are mainly dwelling in the Gomati and the South Tripura districts of Tripura state of India.In Bangladesh, they live in Bandarban Hill District along with other tribes. They speak the language Kokborok which is of Tibeto-Burmese and their dialect is similar with Reang tribe. According to the folk tales, Uchois and Reangs are of same origin. Language and culture of Uchois are also similar with other Kokborok speaking tribes. They are the least in number among Tripuri tribes around 6000 or more. These people are also found in Lawngtlai, Lunglei and Mamit district of Mizoram and Bandarban and Rangamati of Bangladesh. Santal People
The Santal or Santhal are an Austroasiatic speaking Munda ethnic group in South Asia. Reang
Reang is a Tripuri clan of the Indian state of Mizoram and Tripura. The Reangs can be found all over the Tripura state in India. However, they may also be found in Assam and Mizoram. They speak the Kaubru language which is similar with Kokborok Language which is of Tibeto-Burman origin. Noatia
Noatia are one of the Tripuri clan of Tripura state of India. The clan mainly lives in the North Tripura districts of the Tripura state of India. They speak the Noatia dialect of Kokborok which is of Tibeto-Burmese origin. The Noatia are one of the important Tripuri clan in Tripura. Munda People
The Munda people are an Austroasiatic speaking ethnic group of India. They predominantly speak the Mundari language as their native language, which belongs to the Munda subgroup of Austroasiatic languages. The Munda are found mainly concentrated in the south and East Chhotanagpur Plateau region of Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal.
