Mychal Ramon Jefferson, better known online as Trihex, is an American professional gamer, speedrunner, and Twitch (service), Twitch Online streamer, streamer. He is best known for his runs of ''Super Mario'' and List of Yoshi video games, ''Yoshi'' games—including several notable appearances at Games Done Quick events—and as the face of TriHard, one of Twitch's most popular Twitch emote, emotes. Career Speedrunning and esports Mychal Jefferson began speedrunning ''Yoshi's Island, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island'' in 2004, after being introduced to the concept by a Speed Demos Archive DVD that was bundled with an issue of ''Electronic Gaming Monthly''. His breakout run came at the Awesome Games Done Quick 2014 speedrunning charity event, where Jefferson performed a 100% run of ''Yoshi’s Island'', a game considered especially demanding. An online streamer or live streamer is a person who broadcasts themselves online through a live stream to an audience. History Streaming arose in the early 2010s, originating on sites like YouTube where users could upload videos of themselves in the form of vlogs or Let's Plays. While not all content featured a live audience, users were still able to gain a sizable following and make a living off of their content. Other sites like Twitch increased this popularity. Due to the millions of dollars that streamers can make, streaming has become a much-yearned-for career option. Genre Video games Let's Players have been the most popular streamers by far since the beginning of live streaming. Today, the majority of streamers make their living from doing Let's Plays, live speedruns, and walkthroughs of video games.
