''Tri-Angle'' is the debut studio album by South Korean boy group TVXQ, released through SM Entertainment on October 13, 2004. Several singles were released as part of the album, including "Hug", "The Way U Are", "I Believe" and the title track "Tri-Angle" featuring BoA and TraxX. Commercially, the album peaked at number 1 on the monthly MIAK album chart for October 2004, selling over 166,000 copies. It was the 8th best-selling album during 2004 in South Korea, selling over 242,000 copies by the end of the year. In addition, the physical release of the singles "Hug" and "The Way U Are" collectively sold over 380,000 copies. TVXQ
TVXQ (stylized as TVXQ!), an initialism for Tong Vfang Xien Qi (), is a South Korean male pop duo consisting of U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin. They are known as in Japanese releases, and are sometimes referred to as DBSK, an abbreviation of their Korean name Dong Bang Shin Ki (). Their name roughly translates to "Rising Gods of the East". Formed by SM Entertainment in 2003, TVXQ began as a five-member boy band composed of members U-Know Yunho, Max Changmin, Hero Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun, and Xiah Junsu. They were immediately launched to mainstream recognition following the release of their first physical single "Hug" (2004), which peaked at number four on the MIAK monthly music chart. The Christmas Gift From TVXQ
''The Christmas Gift from TVXQ'' (stylized as ''The Christmas Gift from 東方神起!'') is the first Christmas EP by South Korean boy band TVXQ, released on December 6, 2004 by S.M. Entertainment. The EP features Korean and English cover versions of popular Christmas tunes. It also includes a remake of The Classic's 1994 Korean song "Mabeopui Seong (Magic Castle)" (Hangul: 마법의 성), which was promoted as the EP's lead single. For the EP, TVXQ worked closely with Kenzie, who produced the album's music and vocal arrangements. The EP features acoustic arrangements, synthesized orchestras, and harmonizing vocals performed in a choir style. It also includes a cappella renditions of Christmas carols. ''Inkigayo'' ( ko, 인기가요; English title: ''The Music Trend'', previously ''Popular Song'') is a South Korean music program broadcast by SBS. It airs live every Sunday. The show features some of the latest and most popular artists who perform on stage. It is broadcast from the SBS Open Hall in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. History ''Inkigayo'' debuted as ''SBS Popular Song'' in 1991 as a chart show, but was canceled in fall 1993 because it was replaced by TV Gayo 20 (TV 가요20). Between August 1998 and September 2008, the Recording Industry Association of Korea (RIAK) and the Music Industry Association of Korea (MIAK) published a monthly record chart, ranking the best-selling CDs and cassettes within South Korea. At least 100 albums and two singles have topped the chart during the course of its existence. In early 1998, South Korea's National Tax Service decided that the music industry should be more transparent. The Korean Video Record Association decided in a meeting held on July 23, 1998, that record sales should be tracked and released on a monthly basis. The record labels had to submit the sales of an album up to six months after its release. The data had to be submitted until the 7th of every month and was released by the RIAK on the 10th. "Hug" (Korean: 포옹) is the debut single by South Korean pop group TVXQ. Written by Yoon Jung and Park Chang-hyun and produced by Park Chang-hyun, "Hug" was first performed at a joint showcase featuring label mate BoA and American singer Britney Spears on December 26, 2003, TVXQ's official debut day. The song was later released as a CD maxi single on January 14, 2004, in South Korea. The Oricon Albums Chart is the Japanese music industry standard albums popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Oricon originally published LP, CT, Cartridge and CD charts prior to the establishment of the Oricon Albums Chart on October 5, 1987. The Oricon Albums Chart's rankings are based on physical albums' sales. Oricon did not include download sales until its establishment of the Digital Albums Chart on November 19, 2016. In November 2018, Oricon began to include streaming in its album rankings, introducing a combined album chart based on album-equivalent units.
