Tres Sargentos is a village in Carmen de Areco Partido, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. History The General Manuel Belgrano railway was laid through the area in 1906, the station was established in 1907. Name The name of the settlement was inspired by events following the defeat of the Army of the North at the Battle of Vilcapugio, when General Manuel Belgrano sent Gregorio La Madrid three soldiers and the native Reynaga on a reconnaissance mission. They came across a number of the enemy, formed a plan of attack and took them hostage. The raid is remembered as action of ''Tambo Nuevo''. The streets are named in honour of military personnel at the battle José María Gómez, Santiago Albarracin, Juan Bautista Salazar, Indio Reynaga, General Lamadrid and General Belgrano. Gregorio Aráoz De Lamadrid
Comandante General Gregorio Aráoz de Lamadrid (or "de La Madrid"; 28 November 1795 in San Miguel de Tucumán – 5 January 1857 in Buenos Aires) was an Argentine military officer and briefly, governor of several provinces like Córdoba, Mendoza and his native province of Tucumán. Lamadrid fought beside General Belgrano and General San Martín during the Argentine War of Independence, as a prominent cavalry officer of the Army of the North, where he won a number of famous small actions in Upper Peru such as Tambo Nuevo in 1813 and Culpina in 1816. Gonzalo Norberto Pavone (born 14 June 1977) is an Argentine retired footballer who played as a striker. Club career Born in Tres Sargentos, Buenos Aires Province, Pavone made his senior debut in the 1997–98 season, appearing in seven scoreless games for Estudiantes de La Plata, after which he represented three teams in quick succession. Starting in the early 2000s and during one year, he played amateur football in Italy. After a spell with Independiente Rivadavia in the Primera B Nacional, Pavone moved abroad again, joining CF Extremadura from Spain. Action Of Tambo Nuevo
The action of Tambo Nuevo, also known as ''Hazaña de los Tres Sargentos'' was a successful cavalry raid carried out between 23 and 25 October 1813, during the second Upper Peru campaign of the Argentine War of Independence, by a small detachment of dragoons of the Army of the North. The targets were the headquarters of royalist Colonel Saturnino Castro at Yocalla, and later a forward outpost on Tambo Nuevo. Manuel José Joaquín del Corazón de Jesús Belgrano y González (3 June 1770 – 20 June 1820), usually referred to as Manuel Belgrano (), was an Argentine public servant, economist, lawyer, politician, journalist, and military leader. The Battle of Vilcapugio ( qu, Sacred Well) was a major battle fought on October 1, 1813, during the second Campaign of Upper Peru in the Argentine War of Independence, where the United Provinces forces led by General Manuel Belgrano were defeated by a royalist army, led by Joaquin de la Pezuela.
