Trentavis Friday (born June 5, 1995) is an American track and field athlete specializing in sprinting events. He is the USA Men's High School Record Holder over 100 metres. A native of Gastonia, North Carolina, Friday attended Cherryville High School. He then attended Florida State University for one year, before turning professional by signing a four-year contract with Xtep in November 2015, in order to prepare for the 2016 Summer Olympics. However, at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials Friday only finished fifth in his preliminary. Friday was named Gatorade National Track & Field Athlete in 2014. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. Jeffery Barnard Demps (born January 8, 1990) is an American track and field athlete and former American football running back. He attended the University of Florida, where he was a running back for the Florida Gators football team and a sprinter for the Florida Gators track and field team. He is the only Florida Gator athlete to have won national championships in two sports with his 2009 BCS National Championship and multiple indoor and outdoor track titles over his four-year career. Demps matched the 100 meters world junior record with a time of 10.01 seconds in June 2008. In January 2012, Demps decided to focus on the 2012 United States Olympic Trials instead of the 2012 NFL Draft, pursuing a career in track rather than professional football. Noah Lyles (born July 18, 1997) is an American professional track and field sprinter competing in the 100 meters and 200 meters. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic 200 m bronze medalist and a two-time World champion, having won the event at the 2019 and 2022 World Athletics Championships. At these Championships Lyles also earned gold and silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay respectively. Rudy Winkler (born December 6, 1994) is an American male track and field athlete who competes in the hammer throw. Pending ratification, he is the American record holder with a throw of for the hammer and holds a personal best of for the weight throw.
