Transmission (mechanics)
Propulsion transmission is the mode of transmitting and controlling propulsion power of a machine. The term ''transmission'' properly refers to the whole drivetrain, including clutch, gearbox, prop shaft (for rear-wheel drive vehicles), differential, and final drive shafts. In the United States the term is sometimes used in casual speech to refer more specifically to the gearbox alone, and detailed usage differs. The transmission reduces the higher engine speed to the slower wheel speed, increasing torque in the process. Transmissions are also used on pedal bicycles, fixed machines, and where different rotational speeds and torques are adapted. Often, a transmission has multiple gear ratios (or simply "gears") with the ability to switch between them as the speed varies. This switching may be done manually (by the operator) or automatically (by a control unit). Directional (forward and reverse) control may also be provided. Single-ratio transmissions also exist, which simply cha ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Tremec TR-3160 Transmission
The TREMEC TR-3160 is a six-speed RWD manual transmission that features six forward speeds and one reverse speed. It is manufactured by TREMEC (formerly Transmission Technologies Corporation). The TR-3160 is designed for either a single or double overdrive application and is used for light delivery vans, light commercial vehicles, or performance vehicle applications. Based on an 81mm center distance, the TR-3160 utilizes high strength steel on all gears and shafts - maximizing torque capacity and durability while minimizing weight and package size. High capacity tapered bearings and high capacity synchronizers contribute to low shift efforts and shifter travel. All gears are hard-finished. The multi-rail shift system accommodates direct mount and semi-remote shifter locations that provide greater flexibility while reducing noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). TR-3160 features: * Rear-wheel drive, six-speed manual transmission available with single or double overdrive * Double a ... Tremec T-5 Transmission
The TREMEC T-5 is a 5-speed manual transmission for longitudinal engine automobiles. It includes one overdrive gear, a light-weight aluminum housing, and is adaptable for four wheel drive use. It is currently manufactured by TREMEC. History and design The T-5 was originally designed by BorgWarner based on the T-4 and earlier SR4, and was sold as the BorgWarner T-5 until the design was sold to TTC (aka Tremec) in the late 1990s. The SR4 was a light-duty 4-speed manual that used ball and needle bearings on the countershaft with bronze synchronizer rings. The T4 improved this design with tapered roller bearings on the input and output shafts and a straight roller bearing on the counter gear. The T-5 is a T4 with an added overdrive gear. The T-5 carries a part number of 1352-000-''xxx'', where ''xxx'' is a three-digit application-specific number ranging from 001 to 260 that also can be used to distinguish World Class from Standard T-5 transmissions. The first T-5s were installed in t ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
