Tray Blackmon
Tray Blackmon (born October 20, 1985) is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker. He played college football for the Auburn Tigers. Early years Although undersized for a typical national type linebacker recruit, Blackmon was considered a five-star prospect by several recruiting services. ''Scout.com'' ranked him #1 among the 2005 linebackers class. The Player of the Year in AAA for the State Champion Grangers, Blackmon had 116 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 12 Sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, one safety, and one defensive touchdown as a senior. College career After redshirting in 2005, Blackmon recorded 18 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, in six games in 2006, which earned him a spot on ''The Sporting News'' Freshman All-America Second Team. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage).
